Glad to hear about the paper. Is the hospital work hard?

Just got tired of the clutter. When I got rid of the clutter, decided everything needed to be washed down. One thing leads to another, I guess.

Yes the hospital work is hard - have to do an 8 hour shift and take on a patient load - all for no pay!!

That's ok. I went down to the basement to get the laundry from the dryer. Folding while I'm talking.

Meant to say that I'm really enjoying it though

Sounds like when I did my student teaching. Had to make lesson plans, tests, etc.

How's the weather over there - still as hot as it was?

That makes all the difference in the world. If you hated it, you would be just miserable.

It gets hot during the day (90's) and cool at night (60's). Is your weather starting to warm up?

One thing I have found really hard the standing and working on my feet. I have had an office job for a few years now and boy do my legs feel it. Last week I started wearing compression stockings and that made such a difference to my legs. Before that I could barely walk

Our weather is all over the place. Last week it was beautiful and warm, but this week it is cold again and I even have the heater on at the moment (that's naughty as it's the middle of the day)

What type of ward do you work in?

I won't tell on you. I hate being cold.

It's a medical ward that has mostly people with respiratory illnesses, but also some cardiac and some endocrine (diabetics for example). Lots of older people with pneumonia and other respiratory problems

Winter seems to be the worse time of the year. Between the cold and wet, there's all kinds of bugs going around.

I'm trying to cut down on heater bills but on a day like today when I'm at home it is impossible. I'll just have to send hubby out to work harder to pay the bills, teehee

There have been some bad flu's around this year, lots of people hospitalised and quite a few deaths

During the winter here, I use a space heater too. I get too cold, especially if I'm not moving around a lot.

I don't have a space heater on (is that one that just heats a small area?). I have the gas ducted heating on so the whole house is comfortable, it uses a lot of gas. And sorry I am not sure what you would call what we call gas

I homeschool but I think we are ready to start tomorrow.

Jenni, we have a furnace that uses natural gas. I have a portable electric heater in the living room. It's good if you want to just sit for a minute to get a quick shot of heat.

Rena, but are the kids ready?

Becky, are they ever ready?
Should be less of a fight this year. She has seen the work she will be doing and thinks it will be okay.

What grade is she in?

Jenni, it wasn't a dumb question. Some people here in the states use fuel oil to heat their homes.

She should be in grade 4 but we are starting this curriculum in grade 2. We did a placement test in June and that's where she tested at. She has dyslexia so I think it is best to start there.

Rena, was it a written or verbal test? If it was only written, she was at a disadvantage.

Sorry, I disappeared for awhile.

Becky, our houses here in Canberra used to be heated with oil until they brought the gas pipelines through about 20 odd years ago. Now most people (who have ducted heating) use gas.

Rena, that must be had work homeschooling your children. How many do you have?

Jenni, how long is your break?

It was all written, but there are things she does need to relearn.
I have three kids, 2 boys 18(at home) & 22(moved out) so they are done with school, and Amber is 9.
I don't find homeschooling very hard to do. I enjoy it and for the most part, so does Amber.

It's 2 weeks, Becky. there is an essay due in the day we go back, so I have been spending all my time researching that, and now I should probably start writing it.

Rena, it would be very rewarding I'm sure. Did you homeschool your boys as well. I'm sure it is easier with only one child

It's not much of a break if you have to spend it doing work.
