Now there's a thought! Now you're using your noggin.
How is the hobbling going? All on schedule? I hope you have the pain under control. Here's some daffodils out of my garden, they should brighten up your evening.

Good morning all! Busy day today so just stopping in for a bit. A little over 24 hours to check-in. We're leaving at 6am. D#2 is not completely packed yet so that and all of the other last minute stuff has to get done! There seems to have been a mix-up re my b'day(mine is in May). I think this is what happened: I posted happy birthdays to Lynda and Nancy on Easy and someone switched my name with theirs. Kind of like the old telephone game. One person changes a word and the mistake gets passed down the line. Although, there is another Stella from Australia, maybe it is her birthday.

Of course, there are lots of Stellas in the world, so it could have been meant for any one of them in the first place. All through junior high and high school, in our assigned homerooms we had to sit in alphabetical order. The girl who sat behind me was named Stella. There weren't any other Stellas in the school or town (except my mom) and that other Stella had never met anyone else with that name. Small world!

One puzzle before I go.

Unscramble the letters in each line, then find the missing letter that completes each word. (The missing letter is the same for each word.)

She is very nervous, but I was always nervous going back to school, I my school was local. It always amazed me that the kids never got nervous going back to school, until now. First with Brendan, he was very nervous, and now with D#2. Send positive thoughts this way!

Will do. Just keep telling her (and yourself) that she'll do fine. Maybe you could set her up with an e-mail and IM account so that she won't feel so alone at first.

Will she have a roommate? Maybe invite her roomate out to lunch. It would be an ice-breaker for both and give them a little time to get to know each other before the term starts.

Thanks for the explanation on the fees for you kids schools Gail. I have friends who send their sons to Private school called Public School in the UK) and it costs them thousands of pounds a term. My husband's business partner is sending his 4yr old daughter to a school which costs £4000 a term and there is a waiting list to get into that school. Don't get the idea that I could afford that sort of thing. Business partner comes from a wealthy family (Mother actress/father well known barrister and author)

Morning sudokuland. I am getting a late start on everything today. Problems sleeping last night, I gotta stop this wake at 2:30 am thing. but I did get back to bed and slept from 5 till 8, so why am I so sleepy?

I am wondering why my DH never starts the weed eating in the Front yard? He never seems to get around there, and although I can do some of it with my electric, there is some needs his BIG BAD machine to cut it. I think it is because he sees the back more, going to and from the shop which is out back. also, lots more to trim around in the back. I am just soo thankful we got so much done yesterday, sure is better.

OH A milestone. I got my riding mower out of low gear yesterday, actually shifter up one gear hehehe. I am taking it slow learning how to drive this new one.

I need a riding mower avatar or smilie, anyone seen one?

Hi MizT, Sorry you had a bad night sleep wise. You must have a large garden to require a ride on mower. My DH would love one but our back garden isn't that big. Son can cut the grass in 30 minutes if it hasn't been left too long.

We have had a good day here, about 64F. DH and I took the pup to our local park for a walk at lunch time. She loves meeting other people, though wasn't too sure about the boating/fishing lake

Hi, Brenda, MizTricia, Becky, and Stella! I hope everyone is having a great day. (We have sunshine and mid-80's F.

MizT, have you considered asking Nancy if she has seen a riding mower smilie? She seems to find so many cute smilies!

I'm off for a class, then do some STUFF about the house.

Brenda, I'm so glad little Callie enjoys getting out and meeting other dogs and people! Socialization is so important with puppies (and children, for that matter).

Everybody. Today is the first day of school here, so for us homeschoolers it is the "We're Not Going Back To School" beach party. What a rough life I have. It's a bit cloudy but the sun is trying to shine. It peaks out every now and then. Should clear up in a while. Enjoy your day, I know I will.

JULIE, good idea, I might do just that if I cannot find something. I have one more graphic file to browse first. thanks for the suggestion.

Brenda, I do not have what you in the UK or Australia would call a garden. I have some dirt and some green stuff growing in it. Property is one acre. A small strip at the back is in huge hardwood trees, rest we mow. I do have a lawn in front, centipede grass, that looks pretty good when kept cut and when it has not been as dry as this year. Back is a mixture of bermuda grass, the centipede that is spreading that way, and nuisance weedy grasses and some broad leafed weeds. Lucky they are all green and look presentable if kept cut.

Still a lot of work MizT. Properties in UK rarely have that amount of land 'pocket handkerchief' sized gardens are the norm here. We have a slightly larger than average house so the garden is larger than my neighbours. I don't have an 'LAWN' just grass, moss, green weeds etc but when it it cut it doesn't look too bad. What can I expect with kids, a puppy and domestic rabbits with a free run of the back. Oh I do have plants around the fencing which at the moment are in need of pruning.

I like to encourage the wild birds into the garden too This year we have a very friendly robin which occasionaly hops into the lounge through the French windows and helps itself to some of the parrots food

Brenda, my front "lawn" came about most unexpectedly. the short version is, I paid for winter rye grass seed, at the local farmers co-op, and was mistakenly given centipede seed. I planted it like winter rye, broadcast in the fall and not dug in at all. Correct for rye, everything wrong for centipede. Dern stuff came up the next spring, and by second year, I had noticable grass. Every year it gets better, has crowded out every old grass and weed , it does not like company! When I did some research, found out I have the soil it prefers, sandy and acidic. it does not like fertilizer, it tolerates drought, it does not need cutting as often as other grasses, so I have DONE NOTHING and got a lovely lawn for my efforts

The first year centipede sleeps, the second it creeps and the third year it leaps. (I have it, too.)

Brenda, we have larger property cause we are in a rural area. In suburbs, they get little postage sized lots here too. sometimes when i have to cut it, I wish mine were little. OH, i also cut a part of the neighboring property, it is currently vacant, so I do not have to look at the weeds right up at my property line.

Stella, how long do I have to do up keep on it and use it before it becomes mine???

Hello, anybody here. I'm back from my tough day at the beach. The weather was beautiful. Lots of sun a cloud now and then. Perfect day. The kids had fun. Amber brought her rubber boat and paddled around with some of the kids. The adults sat on the beach and chatted. It was practically deserted. Not a tourist in sight. A great time was had by all. Tomorrow Amber starts her schoolwork. The big question is... am I ready?

It's keeping me very busy Becky - what with all the assignments as well as working 3 days in the hospital and having to do all the related reading and studying that goes with that. But I'm enjoying it and have gotten good results in my assignments so far. How are you?

I got a high distinction for that essay that I was sweating over a few weeks ago. I was really surprised with that result as I was struggling with the essay and I wasn't 100% happy with it, but now when I reread it I realise it was quite good (if I say so myself!!)
