I'm sitting at a desk with a notepad in front of me writing a brilliant paper about teaching... yeah right!

I'm not a teacher YET Tami. I have to write a paper about my first prac so I can do my second one and THEN I'll be a teacher...

I shadowed a student for a day and, among other things, I have to outline my professional response to her learning needs in terms of several things... At the insistence of my coordinating teacher I shadowed my own daughter. Mummy keeps intruding on Teacher....

I can only imagine what shadowing your daughter must have been like. My son would hate it if I shadowed him. He got in trouble last week and had to serve a detention. I threated to stay with him to make sure that he never got another one again. All weekend he believed me.

Ebob was wonderful about it. I talked to her and said it was about the privacy of other students, would she mind etc. She wasn't even embarrassed by me! At least she didn't avoid me and pretend I wasn't her mother...

I guess it depends on the child. S1 is in 6th grade and just starting middle school. He has started changing from that sweet little boy into a hormonal preteen. I know the next few years will be rough. I am ready for the challenge and I know he will grow up eventually.

Ebob was in Year 7 (12yo)- Year 9 (15yo) now (yes, I have procrastinated that long, the problem with distance education)...

Ally is in Year 6/6th grade. She is much more 'hormonal' than her older sister...

Ally is the same year as Mitchell. He is starting to change and asks all sorts of strange questions. Thing is, he comes to me instead of his dad. When dad tried to have "the talk" with him they both busted up in laughter and mommy had to take over. He now asks me all the questions, and I have to answer with a straight face.

At least your kids are willing to help you. It gives you a students perspective which can be a good thing.

Suzy, only 14 more and I can have two in a row. I don't think I have ever done that.

LOL Tami, I will help you. I just plagiarised a passage from one of my old assignments and it has pulled something together. It's not illegal to plagiarise your own work is it?

I teach 6th grade math. The students are 11-12 years old.

I'll have to be careful to refresh before I post so I don't accidentally steal your TOPP... but you better watch out, my friends box says there are a lot of lurkers....

I'll be high school science (12-18yo) but I tutor math.
