He looks like he's lost some of his fur??? American possums are pretty darn ugly compared to the cute Aussie ones.

We live-trap and 'relocate' these from our backyard! They eat too much of the fruit from our trees!

Yep, I'm with Kathy, Aussie possums look cuter. Unfortunately they are territorial and if they are relocated will try and return.

I've 'relocated' a couple of them and none have returned.

Opossums are nocturnal, so if you see it out like this in the day, it's sick. This year there's a LOT of distemper in the 'possums. Counsidering the condition of it's coat, I'd say it's sick. It would be kinder to put it down instead of letting it die slowly and possibly infecting unvaccinated pets. Opossums, like skunks, can carry both canine and feline distemper.

That is an excellent site, Keith, and should be read by everyone considering trapping and relocating wildlife.

Hal, I was referring to Aussie possums. I know little of your possums.

I have only seen opossums in our yard at night. I agree that daytime excursions are worrisome.
