Quilts and jammies here!!! A heater going in every room and the fire blazing!

Gail, if you ever visit the US, make sure you come during our summer months. You'd turn into a popsickle during our winter.

We go for the quilts & jammies, too! And to be honest, when winter is approaching, 50's feels colder than it does when we're in the midst of summer. How cold does it get there, Gail?

Hey Gail, when you go to visit, I'll come with.

You do realise that's our day time temp! Just loked it up, the nights are about 5 degrees=40F and our days are 11 degrees=50F.

Perth does not get as cold as Victoria

Gail, some teenagers wear shorts and sandles with socks during the winter here. I think they're nuts when there's snow on the ground.

Where we are is in the 'mountain' range around Melbourne, but they're not that big. We aren't very far from the snowfields, about half hour as the crow flies! So our temps are on average about 5 degrees C colder than Melbourne temps. So during the day time, in winter it can get as low as say 5C=low 40s.

I agree, Becky! On the other hand, I remember choosing not to wear my mittens and making and throwing snowballs when I was in grade school. You wouldn't catch me doing that now!

First time I saw that, had to do a double-take.

My mom used to tell me I was crazy for wearing a CPO to school.

The kid across the road is like that. Shorts and a t-shirt all year long! His concession to winter is that the sleeves of the uniform are 3/4 length in winter!!!

Gail, that's just brisk around here. Sweatshirt and jacket weather.

I sometimes wonder if they will have more health issues as they get older.

Gail, it's like a pea jacket that sailors used to wear. It hits just below the hips, long sleeves, button down. The one I had was a light weight wool.

Well it feels mighty cold to me. Our summer temps are often in the mid to high 30s=95-100F

I've an idea they do it thinking that it makes them look cool to their classmates.

And the really look COOL to their parents!

I don't mind the heat. It's the humidity that gets to me.

Julie, if you did a study, you'd probably find they would be healthier and more robust than most people!

Got to admit the only thing that bothers me is the pants riding below the hips. I have to fight the urge to pull them up.

They make me feel colder!! I'm always at my kids to put more clothes on. D#1&2 are slaves to fashion. You have to wear tiny to look cool!

This summer has been worse for me. I'm not sure if it's because of heat and humidity - or menopause hot flashes. I must admit to being fond of AC.

I HATE hipsters.
Couldn't buy a pair of jeans for years because they have to go up aruond the waist.
Cannot stand seeing teens hoiking up their pants all the time!

Julie, you need to get one of those little hand-held fans that has a mister.

Don't you wonder how those sagging pants stay up? And the 4 inches of pants dragging on the ground adds to the overall look.

The night sweats!!! So far they've not been too bad but my older sister use to live with me and I would hear her shower at 5am most mornings.

One boy came to school with his pants on backwards and down around his hips. He was complaining about having to take them off to go to the bathroom. I told him to get a pair that fit and to wear them to correct way. The school finally banned them.

I worked at a middle school (6th - 8th grades) my last year. Fortunately the school didn't allow kids to wear their pants so low. They said nobody really wanted to know what color the boxers were.

Read a story a few months back about a boy who stole a car. The cops were chasing him when he decided to jump out of the car and run away. He got about 5 feet from the car when his pants fell down and tripped him.

I've been noticing everyone's new avatars. Been trying to think up a new one, but I'm rather fond of this one.

Pretty nice, we didn't do much since it was pouring at time for the concerts, butit was nice.
