I understand that! Once I typed an entire comment with my fingers misplaced. Then I had no idea what I wanted to say.

My trouble is that my brain seems to work faster than my fingers, then I have to backtrack to correct my spelling and put in words.

Anything to get us away from home. We haven't been anywhere for about 5 years and then it was for 2 days at a cabin in the rain.

Are you interested in a bed & breakfast? You could google that. If you have just 2 days, you don't want to drive an entire day, sleep, then drive an entire day to get back home. (At least, my husband wouldn't like that. I fall asleep in the car, so it would be OK for me.)

Do you have someone to take care of your dog while you're away - or do you need to find something dog-friendly. I think there's a website for that, too.

For long drives, we take turns. He's ruled out theme parks and tourist attractions. So we're limited by time and choices.

We'll probably do a 1 day trip to somewhere close by. Since we in the middle of the state, I should be able to come up with something.

After about 20-25 minutes of driving, I fall asleep. I can't help it. I also have sleep apnea, so don't sleep particularly well at night.

I'm glad your neighbor can help with your dog.

I just want to get out of the house, away from everything for at least 1 day. No housework, no phone, etc.

Are there any state parks near enough - or even national. They often have a lodge or some kind of rental facility. That way you might have some peaceful and beautiful surroundings.

A B'n'B is a great idea especially if it's in an area of beauty and interest.

We live in the mountain range just east of Melbourne, many bed n brekfast places around. Also plenty of sanctuaries and botanical gardens etc. I realise that's of no assistance to you Becky, just suggesting somewhere similar maybe.

Hi, Gail. We're glad you're back. I'm trying to help Becky think of a 2-day getaway, and have no idea of anything close enough to her to work.

I'll go to the auto club for a travel book on OH. They list all the b & bs, parks and areas of interest. Might get an idea from it.

OH, there's a bed & breakfast somewhere near Hudson, OH. I just remembered - something falls, maybe, I think in Cuyohoga area. I knew someone who went there about 15 years ago and liked it, but I seem to remember it was kind of pricey.

I can certainly relate to the wanting to get away! Hubby has this week off but the girls are still at school so we can't do anything about getting away even for a night. The girls go on two weeks winter school holidays as of this Friday. Might buzz of with one or two of them myself.

It was probably between Hudson south (maybe southeast) of Cleveland and probably wherever the Blossom Music Festival is. If you like classical music you could go to Blossom or visit Encore School for Strings in Hudson - frequent concerts by excellent high school & college students, mostly. Our daughters went there for the 6-week summer program about 15 years ago.

The only music I've never liked is opera. I've got a collection of classical records stashed away.

Last school holis in April, my youngest D and I drove over to Adelaide to surprise my father on his birthday. We stayed in a motel on the way there and back so it broke up the 10 hour drive. Was a bit nervous about just me and a 12yo but she was brilliant. She was in charge of the music and navigation! We had a ball, so I thought I could go north to Sydney this time to visit my oldest sister.

Becky, do you both golf or play tennis? Is there an activity you could do together? Could you rent a cabin in the sun shine?
