MizT, some good kitty advice for Suzy! It's good to have someone who has had experience with little ones to share those experiences!

Good Night, Tricia!

Morning all. Coffee is ready, pour yourself a cup. Hope all is well. Kids will be taking a math test today so hopefully I can catch up with some grading. Year is rapidly coming to an end. We have a big visit next week. We are one of 4 school districts nationwide that are up for a huge scholarship. My school is one of the schools they will be visiting. Got to get the room all spic and span in case they visit my room. I hope they don't. I don't like visitors (at school)

Hi all. Good to hear from you, June. I've been concerned. You needed a little time to get your head together, but I bet you're super anxious to get back to Sharon. It's nightmarish to have limited time like this. (((((HUGS)))))

It has been an interesting day. Raining all day, and cool. And to add injury to insult, Robert had a blowout as he pulled in the driveway.... 7 fist sized holes in the tire..... and no spare. We spent 3 1/2 hours looking for a replacement tire for him. It's a really odd size and had to fit a 4WD. We finally found 2 in a neighboring county, as well as a rim for a spare for him. That's ALL that's been accomplished today.

Hi Everyone... We've had a little weather scare in my area a little while ago...we were right in line for a developing tornado, but luckily it never came down on the ground...just some heavy rain, wind noise and lightning for a very short time...its now doing nothing...which is rather nice..lol.
I'm catching up on some needed rest after working at the polls yesterday...I was there from 6 am until 9 pm..a long day, and not too busy...we did play lots of word games on our ereaders to try and stay awake...folks just weren't excited about voting in the primary...this is not usually a high turn-out, but this one was slower than any in my five or six years working the polls...oh well..when folks don't vote they shouldn't complain the government they have either...but they do.
June, glad you have had a few great days...hope you are rested and a bit more relaxed as you get ready to return home.My thoughts and prayers continue for you and yours.
I continue to send out healing vibes to where ever they are needed, and Tami, I too was wondering about the shoplifters and any updates since they returned home.
((((((hugs))))))) all around. Peace.♥

Morning all,
Big hugs to June and her friend and all of the sickies in here. Hope you are starting to feel better.

Tami, I am happy for you that you will have a summer being a mum!!

Mamacita, here voting is compulsory and we still get low turn outs sometimes.. I hope you get a nice lazy day to recover.. Very glad the tornado didn't touch down. Did you have a 'safe' place to be while you were waiting?

Heidi, knowing you, I know who paid for those tires too. Robert is a very lucky man.

Tami, good luck! I hope your district gets the scholarship!! With everything I've been reading about cuts to school funding, it must be desperately needed..

You should have seen Alie's face when I was telling her about Dimitri - that is apparently how Dana spells it, he is a character in a book - I was describing flinging the blankets back looking for him and her eyes went very wide - So you were flinging him around too!!!

Mama, I think the turnout is a true sign of our times. When we had our last federal election, there was no clear winner, the party that eventually did win had to get into bed with several independents to get the numbers to form a govt. Basically the message was none of you are good enough, and we don't really care!

Well Dimmie, as we have started calling him, is a different kitty. We figure it was being full up on his first night here. He couldn't settle, and was a total pain. Thinking about it, we didn't have any litter so had just used some sand we have. It was unfamiliar so he was uncomfortable using it. He's fine now - and today I will buy litter and he'll have to get used to something different again!

Good Evening, Everybody!

Broni, thank you for your update on June. It's understandable that she would prefer to be home.

Nevertheless, I'm so glad you got away, at least for a few days, June! A little time and distance hopefully helped clear your head so you can focus on the important things when you're back home!

Tami, I hope all of your students did well on the math test! Good luck getting caught up on grades! One advantage to getting ready in case your room is visited - there will be less to clean up in a week or so when the school year ends! BTW, I totally understand not being excited about your classroom being visited. It can be very disruptive and interrupt the flow of a lesson! Crossing fingers and thinking positively for the scholarship!

Suzanne, thank you for the update on your Mom! Unfortunately, at least for a while, the PT is going to make her sore! Encourage her to stick with it so she improves quickly!

MizT, I hope you have had a good day and didn't get Heidi's weather!

Tami, I've also been wondering about the two and their extracurricular activity on the field trip.

Heidi, I'm sorry you had a rainy and cool day today! I didn't know it was possible to get 7 holes in a tire. At least you were able to help Robert find a couple of tires and an extra rim that would fit! I'm sure that wasn't what you were planning to do today, but it is a definite accomplishment!

Mamacita, what a long day at the polls! Were they open that long, or do you need to do paperwork and close out everything? It seems late for a primary, as it seems that ours are usually quite early in the spring. I'm so glad the tornado didn't touch down and the severe weather didn't last too long! I hope you sleep well and wake up rested!

Suzy, I can imagine Alie was horrified thinking about Dimitri being shaken about inside the blanket!

Woo Hoo, Broni! So glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better each day!

Gail, I hope you are also experiencing improved health!

Suzy, it sounds like you have helped solve some of Dimitri's problems. Hopefully he makes a good adjustment to the new litter box filler! Sounds like a great plan to have a bit of dry food out for him all of the time. When we first got kittens (about 16 years ago, I think) our vet recommended dry food. Though the brand had changed over the years, as well as now having a "prescription" dry food we occasionally shared some tuna. After Max died, we consulted an animal behaviorist, who suggested adding a moist food. So now, Jordy gets about a teaspoon of moist food for breakfast, and dry food is always available. We never had a problem with overeating, as our cats were "nibblers" and would take a bite or two, then move on and come back sometime later in the day for a couple of bites. I hope all of Dimitri's transitions go well!

Rolanda, congratulations to Peter's cousin and his girl! I guess fb is as good a place as any for announcing an engagement.

I hope a

Tomorrow we're working the entire cattle herd.... vaccinating everybody, castrating bull calves, putting fly tags in everybody's ears, preg checking some cows, semen checking one bull, sorting out the 2 fall calves to wean, and dividing the cow herd into 2 groups for breeding. It's gonna drive me bonkers, since I'm the one directing who gets what, who goes where, and opening and shutting all the gates.
I'll be saddling up at 8 am to use a horse to pen up the cattle so they can be worked. Even the bulls move gingerly for a horse. And all the cows know that a horse can outrun them. My appaloosa, Red Hawk, is great at working cattle, almost as good as Buddy, the Morgan, was. Buddy is a neighborhood legend for his cow sense.

Some of the old timers in the neighborhood, who grew up farming only with horses and mules, used to gather and watch Buddy at work. They were unanimous in their admiration of him. They all said that he was the greatest working horse they'd ever seen. He could handle the most ornery cattle with glee, for 12 hours at a time, drag tree trunks out of the woods by himself, and drive a buggy like a show horse. Because of his bad back, he's been retired from everything but driving a buggy. I really miss riding him, tho'.

Night Broni, hope you are sleeping well tonight.

Morning friends, checking in while waiting on my coffee. I slept in this morning after an up and down kind of night.

Our cool weather is gone, already as warm as it was all day yesterday, headed for mid 80's. (30C)

Tami, have also been wondering just how a seman check on a bull but cautious of asking hehehe.

Julie, hope you got to bed early as planned. You keep some late hours and some busy days young lady.

Will check in later today, hugs to each of you, with extras.

We are done! It went smoothly thanks to Red Hawk, who subdued the cows and penned them quickly. We're keeping 52 cows for the time being (3 are on probation), and selling one cow and the bull Yahtzee. I had a bad feeling that he wasn't pulling his weight, so we did a semen check (I won't go into details other than electric stimulation is used) and he's shooting blanks. I'll take Yahtzee to the best sale barn on Sunday. The young cow that I'm selling will be kept a while to fatten a little and act as a companion to a heifer that I'm weaning that was born last fall.

Heidi, Now just how did you even have a hint that Yahtzee was not fertile? Sometimes you amaze me with all you know. Congrats on getting finished with all the cattle today and so easily. Hope you gave Red Hawk a treat for all his help today. Did you have 3 cows to misbehave today to earn themselves probation? I remember your saying you did not keep cows that acted a fool when you were in the pasture or pen with them. Or are they on probation cause they are not pulling their weight also, having problems giving you new calves??

Broke one of my rules today, had heat on last night, it was down to 43, but have AC on this afternoon, 85 and sunny out now. Nice breeze though.

Was just out to water my flowers. My impatiens this year are unusual. I noticed when I bought them how short, compact they were in the 6 pack, but thought they woud get taller as they grew. Nope, still staying very short, but in pots sitting on shelves on the bakers rack, that is a good thing. They have now filled the 12 inch pots, but barely over the rim of it. A lovely carpet of red and green, or white and green. I was going to post photos, but cannot upload photos from my cell phone, don't know how, or have the whatever to connect it to computer. Not sure where the digital camera with a card that pops out and into my card reader is located at the moment. Oh well, them flowers is beautimus. I am enjoying them.

Need to find something to do today, so far today has been leaning toward a lazy do nothing day.

Those 3 cows on probation were palpated pregnant last Fall, didn't have calves this Spring, and are not pregnant now. And I found no sign of them losing their calves. They are also up-to-date on their vaccinations for the stuff that cause abortions in cattle. These 3 have given me good calves in the past, with no problems, so I'm cutting them some slack. The one I'm getting rid of not only lost her calf (vanished like the other 3) but she's a poor doer and an embarrassment in the field.
The reason I suspected that something had gone wrong with Yahtzee's fertility was that I had him in with a small bunch of open cows and heifers to be bred for Fall calving. He should have had them all bred quickly, but some were acting like they were continuing to cycle when they should have been bred. I was expecting to have 12 cows calve this Fall, but it looks like only 5 will be, including 1 I bought already bred.

I can take that picture any time, Broni. She was acting like a fool, tho'.... bouncing up and down in the head catch. Takes after her mother.

Since the Vet was here, I had him palpate the cows that haven't calved yet this Spring, but were supposed to. Two of them are due in the next 2 weeks, and one is due next month.

Heidi, glad all went well with the cows.
Tricia, glad you had a mellow day. I would like to see pictures of your impatiens. I have a hard time growing anything. I tend to kill most of what I try to grow. My neighbor's mother told me if I didn't start taking better care of my plants she was going to take them all and not return them. She did offer to help me with my front yard. When I redo it, I will take before and after pics.
