Where do we all live?

I want you to picture the Join Up page. First there is a section where you enter your "real" name and details and a box for you to put your country in.    Then there is another part where you set up your User Id and Password. This includes a "From" box.  When you look at messages you will see that most of the time there is no indication of the country people live in because they don't include it in this "From" box.  My question is whether it would be possible to include the member's country in their membership identification as well as their town and/or state. Sometimes it's not known where a place is because they have used initials, which to their compatriots might be enough, but not necessarily to the rest of the world.

Well said, Kate, I agree. A few times I've asked people on site exactly where a place is because we don't recognise the initials they use but they don't always get to see my message so I'm none the wiser. That's the reason I use my full country address, it makes it easier for people to know where we are from and saves confusion.

I don't have any strong feelings on your point, but it's interesting that there are seventeen hits on the page in the seventeen minutes since you posted, Tree Sheila. There must be an awful lot of lurkers, waiting for some new topic to be posted.

While I agree with your "want" (if I were a cat and curiosity really killed, I'd have been dead long ago), my vote goes against this. If you really want to know where people are, just ask them. It's a great conversation starter to those you haven't greeted yet.

Angie - I may not want to start a conversation. All I "want" is a level playing field.

I hadn't thought about this, Kate. I guess because when I welcome overseas members to their "new" page, I generally add that I live on the East Coast of the U.S., near the Chesapeake Bay, etc. But, just in case I've missed someone from another country, I've changed mine

The unadvertised hits may be from cowardly 'gangstalkers' looking for new victims

Kate, I have found myself asking where a newbie was located also, when I visit new members page. It is nice to know where a person is from, in a general sort of way.

Ok, everybody, here's a new game:

Everybody write a horoscope for their sign. Since I'm a Virgo, I'll start off with one:

VIRGO - Today is a good day to take a walk 1) on a beach; 2) in a park; or 3) around a shopping mall. In any case, don't carry cash because 1) you might fall in; 2) you might get mugged; or 3) you might be tempted to spend it.

Some time back, a little neighbor boy knocked on our back door. I asked him where he lived. He puffed out his chest and with great authority said; "Between my neighbors!" So, there you have it.
