Where are you off to Brenda?
I agree with Brenda about their rain. We were there for a lot of it. Brisbane has been VERY short of water for some time.

We've had a very mixed bag of weather. This summer has been like a roller coaster. But because it has been so mixed, we're doing well with water. Probably better than most summers.

It's cloudy today, probably a chance of rain, but it is also cool. (55F) More likely to rain at the end of the week when it is supposed to warm up again.

It's nice that you set something aside for D#1's lunch at work. My hubby does the same thing. He set things aside for D#1 to bring into work for lunch.

We'll probably go out shopping today because D#1 still wants to get some stuff for her suite. She's afraid if she leaves it until they get there that they will go to expensive places and buy things.

By the way Gail I said I would let you know about Ben the horse. His eye was covered in a cancer and they could not get it all out unless the eye was removed. He is a big warm blood about 12 years old so still has a lot of living to do. Will be back at muy daughters by next weekend.

D#1 can't wait to get back to college. All of her friends are the same. They're all going back early!

D#1 is going back this coming weekend, a week before she needs to head back. Her classes don't start until September 4th or 5th.

Stella, D#1 starts work at 6am and often falls asleep before I serve dinner so I just cover her's up and she takes it to work to heat up. I say it's for her lunch but the reality is that she has usually eaten it all at smoko (morning tea break)! I often get a message by about 10am saying that she's having a taste party in her mouth or something equally silly but cute.

Belinda has seven horses. They are her family. One was bought by my father over 25 years ago. He is living on borrowed time. My daughter is over 40 and now is finding a few falls have given her some aches and pains when she does a lot of riding. She is a school teacher and works to suopport her animals.(love of animals was inherited from her mother). She has been told the horse will soon learn to adapt

Her roommate and suitemates are from all over the place. Panama, India, Hawaii, California. To me it is amazing. When I was in college, everyone I knew was from New York.

I didn't realise you live so close to Sharon. Is the daughter with the neighs close by? I had a sister that lived in Baulkham Hills some years ago.

Most of the top students here are from Asia. It was quite amazing watching a doco about the entrance exam to the most prestigious boys school in Melb. The camera panned over this huge hall full of hundreds of boys and there was one or two caucasians!

Incredible June. A bit like three legged dogs and cats, they learn to cope. In fact, I remember seeing something on tv recently about a dog with only two legs...on the same side. Amazing to watch but he was getting around fine!

It takes about 20 minutes to get to Sharon and 1 1/4 hours to get to Belinda's. Sharon is not far from Baulkham Hills.

I agree about the asian students. We have some very good public schools and a University very close by and it is quite an attraction to the better Asian families. The Boys High School my son attended had a few Asian students back then but now the numbers have reversed and they seem to be predominately Asian.

Yes Stella, that is the old horse 'Boy'. Yesterday we were there and had Laura. It was raining so she could not have a ride but Boy came up the steps to the laundry so she could feed him some bread.

I will slowly add some more photos of the trip. It does take time reducing them and then labelling.

Actually I might go and add one of Boy coming in the laundry.

We are a very multicultural nation Stella. They say that Melbourne has a larger Greek population than Athens! Don't know if its true but it makes a good story.
The reason we have so many asian students is that they are sent here for schooling from all over eg China, India, S.E. Asia. The quest for education is very strong in their cultures. The students feel honour-bound to do well because sometimes, their family has sacrificed a great deal to enable the kids to have the opportunity.

I guess we have a lot of foreign exchange students from Asian countries but they are one among many. My daughter's best friend is from Korea and she lives with her aunt so she can go to school here. She is upset that D#2 will be going away to school.
