I'll give you another one.
Rebecca wanted to get rid of most of her dolls. She gave one-fourth of her collection, plus 10, to Nancy. Then she gave one-fifth of what was left, plus 10, to Susy, and half of what was left, plus 10, to Cheryl. She kept the last 5.
How many dolls did Rebecca start out with?

Mary, this is a word math problem. You should be ok!! The kids at school can do math, but when it comes to word problems, they have trouble.

Stella : she had 80 dolls.
Nancy - 1/4 of 80 = 20+10 = 30 dolls leaving 50
Susy - 1/5 of 50 = 10+10 = 20 dolls leaving 30
Cheryl - 1/2 of 30 = 15+10 = 25 dolls leaving 5
5 remaining dolls to Rebecca.

Hi Brenda, how are you? Just got back from the Mall and it always seems that there is "one" more thing to get, especially for the dorm rooms.
Rolanda, you math genius, you are right, the answer is 80. It took me a few minutes to figure out that I had to work backwards and I didn't need the fancy equations!

OK, here's a word problem.
1. Take a word that means "carry" and change one letter to find a pickling solution.
2. Take the word for a mark and change one letter to find a word that means "without spice."

I hope it's a different answer, and a better one. Maybe "bear" and "beam." Before you ask, Jim Beam always worked as a pickling solution for me.

HEY, Bring works better than the Southern word TOTE!
Brine was the only pickeling solution I could think of at the moment.

You guys are so clever! Yes, it is bring and brine for the first one, and brand and bland for the second one. I guess that was an easy one. The first definition for "bring" is "to carry," but I didn't see "bring" listed under the definition for carry. Very interesting!

This is a math one that may be hard to visualize since I can't make a circle. Picture a circle that is divided in half horizontally. In the top half of the circle, it is divided in half again.(pretend the () are each part) Now, following the logic in the first two "circles", find the missing number in the third circle.
1. First circle
(1)(3)
(12)
2. second circle
(2)(5)
(21)
3. third circle
(4)(4)
(?)
