So there you have it Billy. You rose to the bait (careful but ineffectual sidestep notwithstanding). You've been haikued (twice) and sonneted, advised and consented and your curiosity has been piqued. We three had some fun and it didn't cost you a farthing unless you are susceptible to suggestion. It doesn't get any better than that. Why don't you select the free verse bludgeon and join us in our next pounce. I'm off to my hidey place to await our second victim. Shhhh....

I'm sure a hypnotist would have a field day with me (not that I'd pay for that service either)...and I'm not that gleeful Mama, but I am good at the art of free verse (see the ode to Timmy sat)and am eager to pounce with my newly varnished nails...

Dang, Billy! You swing a mean free verse, even knocked me off my spindle. Baboon's butt / like a cracked walnut....classic imagery. Keats would have been proud. There's no hope for this victim, Mamacita can save her salvo for the next one. So, back to the shadows. Shhhhh

No afterlife Billy, its just trying to die with dignity. So sorry, seems like that serious thread has been consigned to the grave as well. Can no one concentrate for more than 4 or 5 posts?

The fly will never cease to thread inspite of nomad wings
such is the plight of all the creatures who will continue on, no quashing as it sings!
Ghosts may haunt and words may shatter the illusion to the plight
but others will post of all they see to comment on their flight...

Welcome to the fray andré. Another bushwhacker is welcomed to the ranks. Your well aimed verse has shielded you from a deadly haiku volley. The count is now to three including Billy who had the good sense to change sides rather than go down in flames with the others. Mamacita apparently has had her attention diverted momentarily so we can use all the help we can get. Back to my lair.....Shhhhh

Here ya'll are, these names that I seek,
absent from the chatroom, each time that I peek.
Though my poetry's rusty, my haiku really lame
I'm happy to see you and will join in the game.

The poets assemble armed with words for to parry,
light verse and haiku and the message they carry.
Mamacita, the Eloquent and Jeb from his lair
await their first challenger, Billy the Fair.
Though shackled and cuffed and chained to the wall,
she claws through the mist with a victorious call.
Andre the Gracious, engages the fray
with a sensitive verse that keeps Jeb at bay.
The number of bards seems to have grown,
and Ian responds with haiku of his own.
So here is my poem, it will bring me no fame,
my mind has gone Seussish, but I entered the game.

I have to interject here, sorry -

Ian the only way I could make the lasagne under $13 was to make a vegetarian one - the mince is just too expensive as i refuse to buy the stuff with the white bits in it. Our cheese is expensive too and the cheese that comes out on specials are normally the processed ones. I added lea & perrins worcestshire sauce to mine and a bit of sugar...
Hey - this is an important discussion point...please continue....and i would really like a name like 'Centurion of the Seuss Phalanx'.

I should be studying very hard
but to ingnore the words of such a bard
would be rude and I must add
If the fish have gone

However my right arm is very weak

They do funny things to my mind

Try this Billy.
Mistress Nordquist; keeper of the sword of Heimdall, heir to the throne of Gaffnost The Grey, protector of the the march and caster of great spells. Fierce in her mien, magnanimous in her justice, the fjords tremble at her tread and the flowers bow to her enchantment. It is rumored that Woton himself oft seeks her council.

Yep - that'll do. Mistress Nordquist sounds like a vacuum cleaner but there is an understated power that is enshrouded in such a name...I have worn my hat for this occasion, can't see for nuts, but I feel you see into the very depths of my soul....ty jeb. Anyone want a jelly bean?

The stupefying power of synergy has been released by the gathering of this august company of metephoric warriors. It is the obfuscating might of the non sequiter. Billy has shown us the way to total annihilation of those who oppose us. She is forthwith granted a boon. Immediate induction into the Order of Wiley with all rights and priviliges as are her due. Henceforth, our motto shall be...'We Don't Rent Pigs'.

“Don’t fall off the world”, he said.
But why? I’ve been there before.
Hovering, floating, looking down. I feel cold.
Just one more step to the edge.
The abyss.... The deep, dark timeless abyss. Just one more step.
Shall I take it?
Can I take it? That final step. Just one more.

The edge of the world? Beyond that place, there be dragons.
OK, 'nuff of this balderdash. Ceecee, I hope that is the only word you could find that rhymed with linger because I would never do anything as base as that.
And André, renting pigs is just plain bad business. Do I take your objection to imply that you are involved in such a risky enterprise?
28/May/07 3:51 PM
Mistress Nordquist  From somewhere very important
andré is always involved with risky enterprises -pigs being the least worrisome...she travels by train AND uses the buffet carriage ...(pst - there is no platform 9 3/4 so stop walking into the wall...)

When I join the throngs of mere mortals when need necessitates, 'Transperth buses' are a veritable source of conversation and oft times total strangers becomest bosom buddies...

Long live 'the wheels on a bus go round and round' and 'we don't rent pigs'!!!

No worries ceecee. I thought it was quite funny. If there was the slightest chance that you were in earnest, I didn't want that left fouling the air.

After reading the easy pages yesterday, I had a thought or two that might be worth discussing....What is it about this or any site that not only draws one to it, but keeps you returning on a regular basis? How does one maintain that which drew us and why do changes that naturally take place over time increase or decrease our enjoyment? Should we accept or reject those changes or just find something else more to our liking? Anyone????

What keeps me returning to this site are the incredibly knowledgeable, inventive, amusing, fun loving people from around the world who frequent it. It's interesting that some are offended by comments/jokes/ads and some are not. I think it's handled pretty well. Usually a discussion starts and continues on with anyone who wants to comment. The problems arise when personal attacks creep in. Doesn't happen often, but it's disturbing. Perhaps just reminding everyone why this site has been so successful, ignoring posters who are out to cause trouble, giving a gentle head's up when something is deemed too risque....pretty much what happens now, should just go on. I would hope we would listen to anyone's(legitimate)criticisms calmly and decide what,if anything, can be done. Gath is always there if needed. We're adults. I think we can handle it.
