Weigh to go everybody. Looks like it was a good weekend for you. My weigh in will come tomorrow, but I don't look forward to it. I had company this weekend and ate and drank more than I should have. I just hope the damage will not be too bad.The good news part is that I JUST finished the last 1/3 of the chocolate bar that I brought 3 weeks ago. Will post the measurements tomorow. Meanwhile, I'm doubling my effort and had a good gym day to restart that part.

01/30/07. Today my weigh-in was not as bad as I had anticipated. I managed to lose 1/2 lb. I am winding up the first month weighing 5lbs less than I started with and a total of 3 inches off the waistline. I have increased stamina and I continue to be motivated to lose another 5 lbs or more during Febuary. At this rate, I may be able to reach my goal of a 20-25lb loss by May, which is my hope, to celebrate my birthday as a slimmer, healthier me! Weigh-must-go!

BIGGGGG mistake in above comment!!! I have lost a total of 6lbs, not 5lbs for January. I had said I thought it would be only 4lbs, so I'm one ahead.

Well, with all the wonderful news of weight loss, I almost don't want to post this. My weigh-ins have not been good and the last couple weeks have been very stressful. I am UP 2 pounds from 2 weeks ago. I am now 5 pounds from my goal weight. :( Not good, but this week has already started better. I'll keep on keepin' on! :)

Angie, Please remember that the less weight you have to lose, the harder it is for it to go. Our bodies just don't want to give up all that fat, especially in winter, since fat helps to keep a person warm...lol. It will come off in time as long as you keep eating less and working out more. Hang tough!

These feet are still walking and now heading for a million steps - hopefully before Easter.
Have had wine tonight but as it has gone straight to my head may think twice before drinking it in future.

Oh dear anniversary celebration, plus England beating Scotland in the rugby - champagne followed by roast lamb, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, washed down with a good red, and only stepped 7161. Best get back on the straight and narrow tomorrow before monday weigh in.

Morning all. Didn't sleep in as planned, got up early and went for big walk. Felt very proud of myself - until my chiropractor's office just rang to tell me I forgot my appointment!

Weigh in, very disappointed
No loss, no gain. Everything the same.
Back to day 1 today after weekend of a little indulgence - champagne, red wine (but only a little)still no chocolate, sweets, sugar products. I did have a little cheese and 2 slices of ginger cake.
The main problem, I think, is just averaging 8000 steps a day and no golf due to weather conditions.
Must make a determined effort this week as
a) I took a good pair of trousers to be altered to new hip measurement, and
b) we are off to Spain next week in the camper and that will be a test.
One good point - I haven't smoked since New Years Eve

I will weigh in tomorrow, but couldn't wait until then to say how proud I am of your accomplishments. Great going with the continued downward direction on the scales, but GannieMo with you tackling two big losses and doing so well is just spectacular.Keith, doesn't it feel good to see that scale going down after feeling it would never happen? I know it does for me. Keep up the great work. Hope my news is as good. See you on the morrow.

Tues. Feb 6 8:15am CST (the 7th for most of you)
After my big gain of 2 pounds, I have lost them this past week. What a tough thing to do. (I also had pizza.) And soooo not fun.

Now for the biggest news of all. I wasn't going to say anything for a few more days, but someone asked (thanks rosemary), so now I have to spill it! Yesterday was my first smoke-free day. I have been gradually cutting down and now I have made it past day 1. When I originally started losing weight, my goal was to lose 51 pounds, maintain that total loss for 1 month and then kick the habit. I decided that I may never get down to that particular number and tossed them to the curb. My new strategy is very interesting.....everytime I have a craving so strong I can't stand it, I do 10 situps. I'll be in shape in about 3 days at this rate. I must have done over 100 situps yesterday. My guts are killing me, but I haven't lit up. I don't recommend this particular strategy, but I am going to stick with it for awhile. I'll keep you updated on my progress (it's too soon to tell if I'm going to stick to it, or if I'll be back smoking by the weekend)......and now some congrats are in order:

Keith---YAY YOU! slow and steady wins the race and helps you keep it off. a loss of 2 pounds per week is worth cheering about!

GMo---'staying the same' is the same as saying 'I didn't gain' Tough to get your steps without being able to be out and about! Keep it up, your body is readjusting to less steps for right now, so when you get back out there, you'll drop weight pretty fast. No cig's--YAY!!

Rosemary---Happy Dance! Pizza is not evil, just keep the extra cheese to a minimum and have a salad beforehand. Ignore the breadsticks when they call your name.

Mama---your encouragement and inspiring words keep us all going. You bring sunshine to a bleak day. Keep up your efforts to be healthy, I know you are working hard on it.

Linda---haven't heard from you in awhile (okay, you are not here on page 6) Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. perhaps you are trying to thaw out from the frigid weather that has parked itself right on top of us?

To everyone who visits this page and leaves their mark----Thank you one and all! I'm doing a virtual cheer for all of us!
Judy  From San Diego
And, everyone who is trying to lose weight, of course try to keep the stress in your life to a minimum. I know ... like that is possible! But remember ...

STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS!! Beware!

I just ate some Lindt dark chocolate pralines. I am so annoyed with myself. Got to go do the twist for 10 minutes. Back later

Wow, What good news Angie, so glad Rosemary asked...lol Glad anything I can add helps to lighten the effort. Gannie, don't be angry, you earned that treat, but just keep on stepping and you'll be fine. Don't worry those pants you had altered will fit better than you thought. Linda, Angie's right, you haven't been around for awhile...sure hope all is well. My weigh - in went well, only 1/2 pound lost, but 3 more inches off of the waist. I'm seeing numbers on the scale and tape measure that I didn't see before because I ran past them so fast as I gained weight, but since I'm losing it so slowly, I get a chance to glory in every ounce that drops away from my body. Working hard most of the time, especially at the gym, but have been cheating a bit and having a couple of rum cokes on the week-end, and still moving in the right direction....yeahhhh me!! weight will go! For those who are doing the most difficult job of leaving the smokes behind...deep breathing when you crave one will help...you usually start coughing so badly that you couldn't light one if you had it. It reminds you of why you are leaving them alone too. Continued good luck to everybody!!!

About the congrats all around ... yea ... what Angie said, and very well said it was. Angie, be hard on yourself and do whatever you have to do. Breaking the nicotine addiction is worth whatever suffering you go through tenfold.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning to visit relatives and won't be back until Tuesday, so won't report next week until Wednesday morning. This is going to be my first test of how I'll do away from home. It's hard to not gain eating in restaurants, and I hope I'm able to keep the exercise program going as well. We'll see. Take care all, and keep the programs going.

I give up, how the hell did I gain 5 lbs in 2 days? I was feeling so good, actually back on track and decided to weigh myself, what a mistake that was, took all the air out of my sails. I will cheer everyone on in their accomplishments, but obviously I will not be joining the land of the thin anytime soon.

well done, slow and steady and it should stay off.
Keith
you will do well while you are away, choose wisely at the restaurant and get in as much exercise, walking as you can while away.
Linda
NO NO NO dont give up
it is just one of those glitches, stay strong .... we can do this. Isnt the whole thing the fact that you felt better about yourself and to continue you can build on that feeling and then the weight will just start to come off.
cheers
water of course

Keith!!!! Don't leave yet! I have a way to help at restaurants for everyone. This is a fool proof way to help you from eating in excess. I always have the waitstaff bring me a take-home box at the BEGINNING of the meal. I cut everything on my plate in half and it goes in the box. Presto--instant portion control!
Angie  From Wisconsin
On another note: Day 3 of quitting smoking. I'm about ready to gnaw off my own arm. I have not given in to the urge (chewing my arm nor lighting up, haha) I will resist, however there is no garauntee what will happen when I first step into a bar. I'm considering going out in a different town this weekend. They are smoke-free in all businesses including bars.

Angie - I think the reason I am now 38 days cigarette free is because I have also given up alcohol and because of this I am not in the bar at the golf club. Where you can no longer smoke anyway. It became law in France this week that there is a total smoking ban in all public places. Places of work restaurants bars sporting venues everywhere. It should be interesting as the french have a very high percentage of smokers.
