The Atari was a game system. You'd slide in cartridges (Pac Man, Breakout, etc.) the size of a paperback into it.

My first computer around 1996 had less RAM than a current USB drive does. It had a tiny screen, maybe about 10 inches and was black and white.

Broni, they must've been different flavors. The only one I remember was plug and play. Never looked at them in the store 'cause they cost too much for me.

Technology is avancing so rapidly that it's funny to hear kids talk about needing bigger mp3/ipods saying they need 8 or 16g. It's amazing!

Yes, and mobile (cell) phones that can fit 4000 songs. Who knows that many songs that they like? I remember 19 yo son taking a walkman to school. It was so cool then - such a tiny CD player.

Morning Stella and Susan,

Stella, it is coolish here also, we had our first frost last night. A bit early for Alabama, have seen it go to thanksgiving without a freeze. Not this year it seems! My pretty green lawn will brown out till spring, I hate that! Maybe I should buy some winter grass seed and over plant for a touch of green over winter?? it is good for the soil also, Winter rye is Nitrogen setting, adds to the nutrients of the soil.

Ohhh, almost an hour since last post, I came in during a morning lull it seems. Oh well, there are 8 pages for me to read this morning, Let me get the coffee on and I will go and read a few pages.

BECKY a bit of sand paper or a Drimel tool and you can do it yourself! hehehe Isn't it amazing what your tongue can find, the slightest little imperfection in a tooth? and once found, you cannot leave it be either.

Coffee and tea to chase away the Autumn chill for the topsiders!

It's pouring at the moment and if it gets colder and starts to snow, it is going to be very messy. My driveway is already flooded. If it freezes and add snow on top, I don't think they'll have school tomorrow. The first snow always makes the roads dicey with the months of oil and pollution layered on top. Maybe we won't get the snow.

eaa, you grind your own mince? From what meat? Or do I dare ask, after Heidi and the road kill story a few days ago!!

OH Heidi, you might enjoy this little story. I have a friend who lives in the midwest, her almost 70yo hubby traps in winter. It was trapping season, and friend is driving along, sees what she thought was fresh road kill, a racoon, decides to take it home for hubby to skin and collect the fur. so she finds a plastic Wal Mart bag, or 2, uses one to pick up the racoon, and another under it in her auto. she gets home, tells hubby it is in the car and he gets it, without further comment. Next day, my friend is picking up her girlfriends for a girls lunch, and they keep asking, Bertie what is that smell in your car. Well, Bertie does not smell so well, and keeps asking what smell? she looks around the car, can find nothing old, stale or that should be smelly, so she forgets about it. Next day, she and grandaughter in law decide to go out to lunch, and this young lady asks, what is that smell?? they find nothing smelly. That night she mentioned the smell to her husband, and he says, maybe it if from that raccoon, it was kind of ripe! So she got out the fabreeze and air freshener and sprays down the interior of the car. Problem solved. So just how bad was the smell from the deeer Heidi??

JUNE, I do hope you get to meet up with Rena when she is in Melbourne, that would be a fun break for you. you have done and are still doing so much for others, it is your turn for something fun! Hope you can work out something! AND you can come to these pages and ramble as much as you want. If it is a comfort to you, that is great and wonderful.

Moms should be allowed an occasional tantrum! It is in the Moms' rule book!

JULIE, hope you can find time to drop in for a "HERE I IS" post during your next busy days. don't even have to read, just check in and let us know all is OK, just busy with you.

OH SUZY, how frightening it was for you, that TEXT message from daughter! Glad you only had seconds to worry about it, you know. sometimes we leave a phone home for a reason, you think?

MAMACITA, hope you are feeling more chipper today. Friends dying is so sad. My hubby is loosing so many lately also. Instead of thinking about loosing so many friends, think about how much time you have been given to enjoy the family and watch the grands and great grands grow up.
sometimes it is all about perspective, you know?

Happy Halloween to all my friends!

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

10. You get winded from knocking on the door.

9. You have to have someone else chew the candy for you.
8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

6. People say: 'Great Boris Karloff Mask,' and you're not wearing a mask.

5. When the door opens you yell, 'Trick or .. and can't remember the rest.
4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

And the number one reason Seniors should not go Trick Or Treating..

1. You keep having to go home to p ee.

Just got up! I still need to read 6 pages of posts from when I slept.
MizT... Thanks for the 'coon story. I have no idea how bad the trunk smelled from the deer, my sense of smell is pretty poor. The only time I ever smelled something BAD in that car was the time both that car and I were sprayed point blank by a skunk. I had been walking our first collie one night and I heard an animal in the trash cans. Thinking it was a cat, I released the dog from his leash. (we were only about 10 feet from the cans, and right next to the then-new car, with it's windows open) The dog leaped onto the offending critter, then instantly whirled away and moved towards me. That's when I saw the skunk only 3 feet away from us. (I had walked towards it) It's spray hit the dog, me and filled the inside of the car. Phew!!!

Oops.... gotta go. Visitor.

Finished reading the posts. Suzy WAS planning on blaming the fire on me! All I can say in my defense is that it wasn't an original idea. I learned about the aerosol can blow torch from a James Bond movie. He used a cigar instead of a lighter, though.
