Jamie - Greetings, fellow Texan!
I didn't know I even HAD a page on this site, LOL. I'll have to put something on it one of these days. I became a supporting member about a year ago, but have always had trouble signing in. Gath helped me out today - thanks, Gath!
I enjoyed your slideshow pics, Jamie, especially the gorilla in the St. Patrick's Day hat. You must have a lot of traffic going by your house. Do people often take pictures? I thought *his* green hat was funny until I saw yours!
I've recently made the transition from civil service work to self-employment. I now sell vintage china on eBay (my nickname is 'scdeer' if you'd like to check out my current china pics). I also play sudoku on sudokufun.com using the same nickname, so you can look up my stats there. I like those puzzles because one is forced to complete them without using any possibilities.
You're a geometry guy -- oh dear! That was my worst subject in school. My poor teacher (such a nice man) didn't know how to score my proofs, since I would complete the beginning steps, then work backwards from the end, usually leaving 2 steps in the middle blank. He wanted to give me ZERO points, except the steps I completed were always correct. He found me a most frustrating student.
No surprise, I majored in history and English in college, and somehow managed to take NO math courses there at all. Basic math is fine, and algebra is OK -- but geometry is another sort of beast altogether. ;-)
Thanks again for your friendly message!

Susan,
We are seeing more and more people stop by to check out Gus! So far the comments are overwhelmingly positive. It is hard to really appreciate his size from the pictures - he is 6 ft tall and weighs 4000 pounds.
I would have loved to see your Geometry proofs - that is what I encourage my students to do - try and work from both ends and get as close as you can. You would have loved MY geometry class! Okay, maybe not loved it, but I bet you would have enjoyed it.
I will check out your china and the other sudoku site, but maybe not until I get to summer.

Hello Susan. My first visit to your page, and it's obviously been here for awhile, so I'm late in dropping by. My traditional page warming gift is a double chocolate fudge beavertail pastry from Ottawa, so enjoy! Since it's also Easter, hunt around and you might find a few Easter eggs as well! Happy Easter to you and yours!
