I have also now entered the granny phase with a grandson who I adore! So I enjoy seeing Bailey at dinner too. In November I was in Albany, as part of a two week trip from Perth where I stayed with my younger daughter, She moved there in May to work. The scenery around the south-west is so beautiful, lot of photos, which I will put up on my page when I have time. Love to return. Spent a day at Walpole on Gary Muir's eco-cruise..what a champion story-teller! He had the whole boat rocking with laughter and made a particular effort to include a group of young vietnamese travellers.
Albany history now coming to light also through a recent book by Tim Winton, so I got the maps and booklets out to understand how he had used the scenery and renamed places..even though it was fiction, it gave me a much deeper sense of place and how hard life must have been, quite apart from the social struggles between whalers and outsiders.
Wish I had been in touch before I came over there. I had never expected to do such a wonderful trip. May be back again!
