Saw The Method at Somerville, interesting movie. How far would you go for your job and how far would the company expect you to go for them? Scary stuff!

Saw Hot Fuzz with my two teenage boys. I thought it a funny movie but there were lots of references and 'homage' to 'shoot-em-up' movies which I didn't get but the boys thought hilarious. Not for the squeamish! If you liked Sean of the Dead...

Saw 'Music and Lyrics' and loved it. Anything with Hugh Grant is good for me as he usually plays in light romantic movies. Would like to see 'Wild Hogs' beause John Travolta hasn't been in a bad movie yet. Excellent actor whether he be playing in a comedy or as a baddie.

Deb - I like Hugh Grant, even though he can only play one type of character - but he does it so well in my opinion! gotta love him or hate him!

I saw 'Wild Hogs' this weekend. Like Deb I thought any movie with John Travolta would have to be good. There were a few chuckles but mainly pretty ho hum, very diasappointing. 4.5/10

Yes billy, William H Macy was the pick of the bunch and all the funny bits (?) were his. The only other good thing about the movie is John T is certainly easy on the eyes.

no - movies this w/end but i did tape 'Extras' (ricky Gervais)and have just watched it. Not often i see a tv show that I laugh out loud to. This one had Robert Lindsay and Robert de Niro making appearances - apparently the stars are queueing up to be on this show. Catch it if you can.

Has anyone seen Three Colors Trilogy (Blue,White,Red)? I heard on a womens show on NPR that they are great movies. Let me know your opinion please.

Billy 300 gets a 9 from me. It has had the most varied reviews of any movie in a long time.

William H Macy was great in Fargo. I'm a big fan of the Cohen brothers.

Barb and I have been enjoying the second season of Rome on HBO. Also last season for Sopranos starts soon. Anxious to see how it turns out. This is the last year for my favorite tv show Deadwood on HBO.

Really, really liked Lives of Others. Terrific story, brilliantly acted, wonderful ending. Great movie!!!

Ed, I saw the Three Colours trilogy but it was an awfully long time ago. I enjoyed them but don't remember much now.

Just had a thought...I know I know!!! I thought the ending of The Lives of Others was perfect and then I got to thinking about other perfect endings and the two that immediately sprang to mind were Butch Cassidy and the SK and Thelma and Louise. Can anybody help with a perfect ending that doesn't involve imminent death and destruction???

Perso nally I always thought it came from the below explanation as i sometimes say 'donkeys years'.

A few reference books suggest that it might be a clipped version of _donkey's years_, also meaning a long time. This sounds quite daft on first hearing, but if you think about it, you can see how the _onk_ of _donkey_ might just have been prefixed by the _y_ of _years_, perhaps as conscious or unconscious back slang. Another way of looking at it is that the source was a spoonerism on _donkey's years_ - _yonkey's dears_, from which _yonks_ arose by clipping.

Ed - 300 was brilliant!! And it wasn't because of all the buff bods either, nice pecs and abs though...where was I? oh yes - the movie was quite a visual feast - fight scenes were some of the best I've seen. Not for the feint-hearted... 9/10

Billy, It was gorgeous wasn't it. Have thought about it a lot since I saw it. My 23 y-o daughter said she had a hard time realising that this was happening in her own lifetime. Really lovely movie.

I love the movies, but have gotten pretty much out of the habit of going to the shows, preferring to wait and see them at home. I did return and two out of the three movies I was interested in have not been discussed( or have I overlooked the comments?) Hubby loved 300...too violent for me, He rated it a 9/10. I enjoyed Amazing Grace, felt the acting was very good although many might be put off by the subject matter. My rating 8/10. I also enjoyed Reign Over Me, my rating would be 8/10. Any one want to share any views? Adam Sanders was seen as a poor fit in Reign, but I thought he did a great job. I was unfamiliar with the actors in Grace, but felt good about their performances too. Looking forward to renewing my movie going habits this year. Any recommendations? I read Pursuit of Happyness, and think I'd enjoy the movie, but know that the book contained so much more...yet the acting may really bring it home. Come on folks, help me spend my dollars wisely.

Lots of good movies have been around, they get distributed for opening around the globe at different times it seems. I have given the thumbs up for movies that some people have not enjoyed...my tastes vary greatly...but if you have time to read some of the comments you may get some ideas...Nearly all the films I have watched I thoroughly enjoyed (except Dream Girls!), yesterday we sat outside the theatre for 30 mins trying to choose between 4 flims - 3 of which were subtitled and one was a Woody Allen film, in the end we asked the guys who were working in the theatre and went with the Lives of Others...hope you get to see some good ones shortly so that you can 'share'...

I should add that I was hoping my friend would go with the Lives Of others ( i was going on mary's recommendation) because it was her turn to choose!
