I wasexactlythe same about the HP books and movies. I don't like falling for hype or following the masses but once you're in, you're hooked! It wasn't until D#3 became friends at a new school with a rabid(I like your term Mary!) fan that we had even really heard about it.

That's reassuring, MizT! I thought I was going crazy.
It's been nice chatting with you, but must run now. Promised hubby some TV viewing together this evening, but hope to be back later. Thanks again for your company!

Went through our photos last night to see what to put in and it was quite amazing to see the differences in the yard. The photos go back to 2002 when we moved in here so I am going to put up some comparison shots plus some of the kids and cats.

Hello, Gail, MizT and Becky! If you are still in the room, I need to let you know that my eyelids are drooping, and I need to make my way to bed. Good night, sleep tight, etc., and I hope to see you on the other side.

Watering the veggies takes an ecconomic toll. Of course, you really don't save that much unless you grow to freeze and can. Most people , I think, have gardens because they enjoy the taste and the hobby.

I grew up working in our garden. Guess I brought it to the city. I don't run the hose, I carry a bucket out. It keeps the weeds and water bill down.

We've got 3 kinds of tomatoes (Brandywine, Roma and Big Boy), zucchini, yellow squash, radishes and green beans. Do you have one?

I grew up working in our garden, too, which is why I don't have one. I just grow tomatoes.

I put up the tomatoes and squash. The rest get eaten straight from the garden. Used to hate it when I was little, but I don't like a lot of the store produce. It doesn't have much flavor.

Yes. Last year I had 2 different heirlooms (Tiger and Big Boy). Had so many, I ended up giving about 1/2 of them away.

Squash is too expensive out of season.

My father always made us plant, hoe, pick and break green beans, but he didn't make us eat them. He didn't care as long as he had his. I loved the radishes and leaf lettuce, though.

It's easy to have too many tomatoes. Zuchini and cucumbers can be too bountiful, too.

Our garden was a little over 1/2 an acre. Dad used a tiller roter to break up the dirt. I can remember planting and picking all types of veggies, including corn. One of my earlies memories is sitting on the front porch snapping beans with my mom.
