Must admit fewer things bother us!

The public schools here really bend over backwards for the students with learning disablilities or are a little slower and the classes are generally there for the bright students to take and do on their own, it's the ones in the middle that get lost in the shuffle.

Hi Rola.

The school I was at you couldn't fly under the rader. The prinicple would come and just stand at the door staring. If a teacher did something that another teacher didn't like, they would go running to the principle and 'tattle' like a 2nd grader.

I am very relaxed.

People who know us now and didn't really know us before retirement comment on how relaxed and laid-back we are.

WE too can deal with life...but since we've lived so much of it and havwe witnessed the good and the bad..its fun to kick back and deal with lighter stuff. Yet we all have our soap box things, and the charter school issue was mine...on to lighter thigs folks....but this was fun too.

When I was at school, there used to be what was called a remedial class, specifically for those kids who needed extra help. Then, by the time I had kids at school, that had all gone. Seemed some bright spark thought these kids shouldn't be separated cos it might affect their self-esteem. Problem being of course as soon as they are in mainstream, they get lost and forgotten. What does that do to their s/e????

Mamacita, at the beginning I filled in for the special needs class. The teacher was great. She worked with local businesses who hired the students to do work for them and gave the students a paycheck. Some of the students stayed after graduation and continued working.

Has anybody seen Last Comic Standing? The last show had Australian comics.

Who ever said this i now like a chat room was right it is easier to talk to myself, but I have enjoyed this tonight. I had missed a lo and by the time I responded and posted 5-10 comments had hit the page..I was the 600 commenter...where are we now?

I volunteered at my kids school for 11 years, tutored math and reading. For the last 7 years I've been subbing at the public school and I cover a lot of special needs classes. Depending on the age of the kids and their need, some are heavenly while others are so tough that they have a hard time keeping the teachers.

I'm showing 706.

We don't watch very much TV, so missed Last Comic Standing - and pretty much most other shows on TV.

They were showing on the news a flash flood that hit either yesterday or the day before.
