If you asked Windows to search for a file a little dog animation wagged his tail and sniffed around while the computer searched. He was cute. Gotta go now. See you!

Stopped at the race track today for the open house they have before it officially opens. All of the local charities have booths to raise money for their cause and they have alot of free activities for the kids. It was nice in the shade but it got very hot in the sun and I forgot my hat!

What's for dinner? we need a topic of conversation. Droop in, and leave a message, so lets try What's for dinner now or in the past.
Do any families still have a huge, special Sunday dinner? Served lunch time, after church? Mom usually cooked a roast, with potatoes and carrots cooked with. Of course to feed a family of 4 children, other vegetables were served also. We often had rolls, instead of sliced bread on Sunday. AND Mom always made a cake on Saturday to be desert for Sunday. In the summer, we might have sliced peaches to go with plain cake, but it was usually an iced layer cake, always same home made cake but the flavor of the icings would vary!

Hi MizT.
I still usually make a traditioal Sunday roast, though normally we have it early evening as Richard normally goes into work in the afternoon

Hi all! Growing up we always had the traditional Sunday afternoon dinner. Usually, a roast with potatoes and veggies. Now, my family only does it sometimes. We usually have sports in the afternoon so that cuts into it. I prefer dinner in the afternoon on Sunday.

I have another topic that I've been wondering about. Why is it that people commemorate the date of death of a person rather than their birthday? It's such a sad day to remember. I would like to remember the person only on their birthday.

I find it strange too, though I must admit that we don't do anything special on either day. Tha is not to say that we do not remember our loved ones.

Brenda, what kind of roast do you make?
Ours was almost always beef, and usually chuck, cause chuck was inexpensive! Mom cooked it long and slow and it was fall off the bone tender, we got a chunk of roast as it would not slice, too tender. When I was small, I thought she was saying CHUNK roast, instead of chuck hehehe.

The anniversary of my dad's death is this week and my mom wanted me to come down to go to the grave. I can't go because we're getting ready but my older sister is going and then bringing my mom here so we can go to Smuggs. But I would prefer to remember him and go to the grave on his birthday. We always got together on his birthday and that seems more fitting, to me anyway.

Roast beef was the usual at home, but now we change weekly between beef, pork and chicken. All served with roast potatoes, veg and yorkshire puddings. Followed by some sort of pudding the favourite beinfg a fruit crumble with either custard or icecream

I don't know if we are odd as a family but we do not have graves or ay sort of memorials to visit. Richard has a plot for his first wife, but he got that mainly for her family. I don't think any of them visit it now except for Angela his youngest step daughter... she had a problem with accepting her mother's death and blamed that o everything she did wrong. In the last couple of years even she rarely visits the grave.

I know regular people who do, but there are also famous people, like Princess Di, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, etc.
