Do you think we have lost Stella?

Oh, good, Stella, I was beginning to worry about you.

I've only been to a french restaurant once. I don't remember if I liked it or not. It was a long time ago.

Yes hubby is French, has lived here since his early 20's, so the food he knows best is French. Since selling the resto though he has worked mostly in cafe type places serving what we call 'Modern Australian' food. That is our uniquely Aussie cuisine, that takes its influence from all other nations food ( a bit of a blend of everything).

The show on CBS right now is about a murder that took place in my area. It was a brutal murder and the son was convicted.

French food is more about beautiful sauces, rather than anything that is exotic or very different. But from what I've read it is quite different to the style of food that you get in the majority of your restaurants.

Does he miss all the French cooking, Jenni, or does he enjoy the blend of many influences?

Sounds horrible, Stella. Did he kill one or both parents?

Stella, was this murder relatively recent?

Is it disappointing for him to work for someone else, or does it take the pressure off and make cooking and creating more enjoyable?

Julie, he likes it. The food is easier to prepare. A lot can be done in advance, whereas in our restaurant he had to do it all 'a la minute' & that can be very stressful when you've got a lot of people waiting for their food.

He took an ax to both parents. The father was killed and the mother was terrible disfigured. Both of their faces were attacked. It happened a few years ago but the conviction was fairly recent.

Jenni, it's good that he's happy doing what he's doing now.

Stella, is the mother still alive then? Did the man have any siblings?

Stella, at the moment he likes working for someone else. Far less worries. But if he leaves the job he's in (& the restaurant is on the market, so when it sells he will have to look for something new) the options in this town aren't that good as the money & the hours are far worse than what he's doing

What a horrible murder, Stella. And worse because it was a family member. Sadly, that seems to happen too often - we have a case here at the moment of a son who stabbed his mother. Very sad

We have a case where a man shot & killed his wife and 3 children, then intended to go to their funerals. He was arrested, but it was in a different state and he is fighting extradition, which would bring him back here for a trial.

Don't you wonder how someone could kill their own family members?

The mother is alive but her face had to be put back together. He does have a brother.

It is impossible to comprehend how anyone could do those things to anyone else, especially children.

And then there's that case in Canada at the moment that is getting a lot of press here at the moment. Yes

A famous wrestler, who strangled his wife & son, & then killed himself. She had divorce proceedings & an AVO against him. It happened only a couple of days ago (the weekend, I think)

Wow, that's why I don't listen to the news. Too many bad things happening. A 17 yo boy died this evening swimming in the river. It's so sad.

What I don't understand is why kill the kid(s) or anyone else?

Sorry, hubby was just showing me a project he was working on.

I think it's very selfish to kill the kids, but then obviously the killer has a lot of problems other than being selfish.
I don't think I've seen Rena visit here for ages. But I do remember seeing her post on easy at some stage.

The Benoit killing actually happened in the US, I'm sorry to say, but I think he was Canadian.

Hubby is making a 'jeep' for our granddaughter.

He bought a 'chassis' from a company and is cutting 1/2 plywood into pieces for the actual jeep shape to be attached to the wheels, seat, steering, pedals (chassis) itself.

That was one-half INCH plywood.
