Today was good. Friday is Brownie/Sparks day. It was nice enough this afternoon to go out to play some games with the girls.

Sounds like fun. Are the uniforms still brown and tan?

Not here anymore. Brownies have an orange with blue sleeves t-shirt or orange long sleeved shirt. Uniform pants or skort is optional. Sparks are younger and have pink shirts.

I'm glad they have changed the colors. Sounds more bright and cheery. The old uniforms were drab.
Our next door neighbor is a Scout leader. The first time we saw him in his uniform was close to Halloween. We thought he was dressing up for a party. He was in his late 40's at the time.

Beavers is the youngest Scouts. My oldest son went and they needed leaders, so I volunteered.

My nephews joined the scouts when they were 6 and 7. I thought that was the youngest group. There might not have been enough boys to make a troop.

I don't know if they have Beavers in the States. My son started when he was 5.

I think there's a group younger than the Cubs, but I don't know the name. The town my sister lived in had a population of less than 500 and the nearest town is about 10 miles away. I seem to remember they lumped all ages together, but did age appropriate activities.

Just looked it up, no Beavers in the States. Cubs starts at first grade.
Our town is very small, that's why we decided to do Brownies(7-8) and Sparks(5-6) together. All our Brownies last year moved up to Guides. Sparks come for 1 hour, Brownies come for 2 hours. The programs have the same aims so we can work on stuff together.

When I was in the Brownies, the only things I can remember doing is crafts and singing Christmas Carols at the County Home.

In Canada, the Brownies work on Key badges at the meetings. Each Key also has interest badges that they can earn on their own or sometimes we will work on them at meetings. That way they all have some badges. No one feels left out. The Sparks have Keepers(same as Keys) but no interest badges.

I don't remember the pledge. Hubby saw my pin one time and asked me why I had a pin of a freaky little fairy. At first I didn't know what he was talking about.

Hi, Everyone! Just a quick Hello, then goodnight! Rena, I enjoyed your youtube! Becky, have fun at your party this weekend. In the US, it's Daisy Brownies (Kindergarten), then Brownies. I think there's also a Kindergarten level before Cub Scouts, but I can't remember what they're called. Hope to see you tomorrow!

Not really. Going to the grocery to drop off bages for recycling. Since hubby is working from home tomorrow, might putter around the house. Other than that, will take the day off from housework.
