Good morning all! It is almost 7am here, which must mean that it is around 11pm there. Balmy day today, 52F. It won't last long though.
Have a great day one and all!

Things are still very messed up for me on EASY, I think I will just stay over here today! Everything looks normal to me here. I had been getting the HUGE PRINT version everythere, but back to normal here now, yeah! I have all but 2 of my Smilies. I have not checked avatars yet but mine is working nicely here, so that is an improvement, things are looking up and can only get better and better!

Hi MizT... it's good to get back on here. I don't know how long there was a problem but know I couldn't even find the site at all yesterday.

Then on top of that my laptop has died on me, it is only 15 months old (so out of warranty) I was using it yesterday for work at 6:30 pm then when I went to use it again later that night it was dead
Unfortunately for me I didn't save my work onto my pendrive so have lost everything I did yesterday

Brenda, that's terrible! Maybe it's just the battery. Try taking the battery out and plug it in with the cord. That's what happened to my daughter's laptop and it wouldn't work as long as the battery was in. It's worth a try. You should send us your email address in a personal message. This way, even when the site is down, we can keep in touch.

It is 54F now and the sun has broken through the fog! It is very bright since we still have snow all around us and it reflects all the light!

STELLA, I have Brenda's e-mail now, she saw that i was collecting them and mailed me.
OK, I should not brag, but looks like I have caught up with the new site, and things are OK for me now, at last! I can do puzzles, and jigsaws and move about the site and post with some assurance the post will go through. I have most of my smilies, only the last 2 I submitted are gone, and since I do not remember what they were, no big loss. Maybe christmas candle? Same for my avatars, the Christmas one and one other were not showing up, no big loss if I cannot remember what it was heheheh.
WHEW I can only imagine what work has been done just so I can get to all those lovely liplaces mentioned above. Can't say it enough,
Gath

MizT Thank you for the offer of sending Al over (maybe you could have come too), but for my sins I used to repair a few laptops myself (for the one of the businesses which is a computer consultancy). I am working on the problem of getting my work off the machine first before trying to fix the stupid machine. At present I am working on a desk top machine which, although up to date is rather trying as I have to sit in the office rather than in my nice comfy sofa

Stella, I have tried all the usual fixes but to no avail. I'll have to transfer the contents of my hard drive to another machine before I try anything more complex. I will send you my email address in a private message.

Good Morning!
According to Gath's posts yesterday,he is having a problem with the current host. They refuse to restore any files submitted later than October.
Unfortunately, ALL of my avatars and smilies were submitted in Dec.!
I do have them in a folder, so I'll just wait and see what needs to be done when the new host comes aboard.
MizT, did you get my e-mail address? I sure want to be in the loop if anything like this happens again!

Hi all. Didn't have time to get back here yesterday.
The weather yesterday was beautiful, in the 60's (15+ C) and sunny. Today is almost as warm, but a cloudy. They are calling for rain the next few days.

Opposite ends of the spectrum! Melbourne should be cooler, Perth could be hot, there is a LOT of space in between. My mother drove around Oz for 4 months last year and said there is a lot of NOTHING out there.

Thanks, Suzy. I will check those out. I am in the process of planning this trip and am starting to get excited. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I am also going to New Zealand to visit my sister.

I'm not familiar with the train route going that way. My trips west (many years ago) were by plane. Based on my mother's feedback, apart from the limitations on places you can visit (which may not be bad at all) a train trip would definitely be better than driving!

If you get a chance to go to Kalgoorlie (sort of between Melbourne and Perth) you will see a HUGE mining pit. Gigantic mining equipment looks like pimples in it. Apparently it's incredible to see. I'm trying to think of other places Mum liked - Monkey Mia where they feed dolphins is one. There's another place for whale watching - Mum didn't see any whales on the cruise, but saw them from a lookout at her next stop, you'd have to look up what time of year the whales normally go past... I think you'll enjoy yourself and find the distances between 'things' a good story to tell...

The Indian Pacific will get me between Perth and Adelaide, then the Overland between Adelaide and Melbourne. I'm not sure yet which direction I will be going. I heard about the train here and have already checked it out.

In Oz clothes lines have always been a standard part of every home. Clothes dryers are used a lot now, especially by working Mums, but everyone still has a clothes line. I got a shock when I first got to SoCal and realised I wouldn't have one. I grew to like it a lot! But there are advantages to line drying - clothes don't shrink for one!

I would like to see fairy penguins. I saw it somewhere on the internet and will look it up again. If it is somewhere not to far from where we will be, I'd love for Amber to see them.
