Have you looked up about the train trips on Google? I'm sure they would have sites. I believe they make the journey on the Ind-Pac very enjoyable because you are on there for a few days (not sure how many) and it becomes like a family.

The thing about Melbourne weather is that it is so changeable. Today is a pleasant day of about 27C whereas tomorrow and the next day are going to be scorchers.

Rena, just catching up on the news. How exciting that you are coming to Oz and I am sure Gail will look after you when in Melbourne. As Sydney is not on your agenda at the moment I will try and arrange a visit to my son in Melbourne while you are there. I am sure they will arrange a Melbourne Meet at that time. I am sure you will get lots of advice of what to bring and see between now and November.
I am sure Amber will love seeing the penguins.

Hi Becky, had a great Christmas and New Year and my back has improved, with lots of exercises, so I can get about and even had a game of bowls yesterday. How have you been?

Guess I missed you too.

Rena, I envy you. I don't like cramped spaces, so would never be able to fly. Hubby and I were thinking that one day we might take a long cruise and touch base in Oz.

I play lawn bowls. The bowls are heavy and have a bias. You roll down a smatt white "jack' That is placed on a centre line and then you send down your "bowl' which curves out and the comes back in towards the jack. Mainly played outdoors on very short grass.

Thanks. Might have to look it up. I used to bowl in a league years ago, but quit when I moved down here. Lawn bowls sounds like fun.

I have never played any sport and the good thing about lawn bowls is that it is played by all ages and easy for the ladies to compete with the men. I started two years ago.

I've lost my interest in team sports. There's always someone who must win or they'll throw a fit. I like just like playing for fun.

Save very hard Becky and fly business class. They even have beds that go down flat. The planes have lots of room but also lots of people crammed into seats and if you are near the window(which I like to be) it is hard to get out. I was a very apprehensive passenger once but if we want to travel we have to fly so I now take it as matter of course. In 2006 we got an around the world ticket and while away we had 19 flights and one helicopter ride.
Cruising is a different kind of holiday altogether.

I have contemplated looking into playing bowls. When hubby and I were driving around yesterday, we went past the bowling green of the town we're thinking of moving to and I mentioned it then. He said if I start wearing white clothes and getting funny coloured rinses for my hair, he would disown me! I think he's being a little narrow-minded, don't you think June?
BTW Hi Becky and June. Sorry for butting in to your convo.

Becky I just play social bowls. A lot of ladies about my age and we play to win but do not worry if we win or not and all have a good time.

Hi Gail. Would that be a blue or red rinse?

June, told hubby he would have to sedate me and bring a rubber mallet in case I woke up.

My kids didn't really have a lot of contact with my aunties but they always remembered Aunty Clare, the lady with the pink hair!
Oh Becky, think outside the square. They have come such a long way since the blue rinse set. You can get it in mauves and everything these days!

Welcome to join us Gail. Out fits have changed nowdays Gail. We can also wear navy short, peddle pusher or slacks. We hava "club" top which is white with green and yellow slashes of colour. Some clubs have very bright coloured shirts. There is no way I would have started with the clothing regulations they had some years ago!!!

Aunty Pink Hair, oops Aunty Clare and her hubby played bowls for years and years. In fact, they were at one time or another, both president of their bowling club, Henly in Sth Aust. They travelled all over the country playing in competitions. Unfortunately, due to poor health, this has gone from their lives now, but they loved the camaraderie.

My Mother had a blue rinse put in each week. A couple of years ago I stopped putting a colour in and Hubby was hoping it would be as white as my grandmother's hair. I think he was a bit disappointed that it is not quite that white.
a bit was that I began to think the chemicals were not the best and it was getting so white the regrowth was very noticable!

Yes, there can definitely be many shades of grey! My mother is one of seven sisters who are all grey and when they have a group photo, you can see the differences. Some are silver grey and some are ghost white. Amazing.

I see Rayray has penned a verse about the site being down on easy. There have been many great poetic contributions to this near calamity.
