I had a clothesline until we rebuilt the deck two summers ago. I miss it, but my back doesn't.

The temps for November look good to me. I will probably do my trip this November. Thanks for the sites. Air fares are pretty decent for that time of year. The cheapest flight price I found is for November.

I haven't been able to hang clothes out for a few weeks now (surgery) but am going to try my first load today - drizzle or not. I can hand back over to D#1 if it turns out to be too hard.

SUZY, one of the things we told patients after surgery, pick up clothes from the washer to hang, if you can pick them up with thumb and one finger, like a pinch. If you need a firmer grip to pull them up and out, you gonna strain and hurt something!

hope you see this fore you try the hanging out.

Hi MizT, that's a good test! It is getting so frustrating watching everyone do stuff, and looking at things I want to do but shouldn't! I learned my lesson early though, and am now learning about patience...

SUZY, being patient is the hardest part of recovery. you have to remember, this is your invenstmet in your energy levels for the remainder of the year! If you over tire yourself, you will not be able to catch up!

After 6 or 7 weeks is the time to gradually begin to do more, and the key word is gradually. Do something new , and check next day to see if you are over tired, if not, do about the same amount of something else, and check again to see if you are over tired. it will be beneficial to both you and your family if you get back to pre surgery levels of energy and maybe even more.

Rena, I will personally take you and Amber to see the fairy penguins. The penguin 'parade' happens every night on Philip Island which is about an hour south of me. Ooh, I am getting excited about your visit too!

She will never forgive me for forgetting the actual date but I think Rolanda is returning on Friday. Her 25th Wedding anniversary is next next Tuesday 15th Jan. I hope these dates are right, I don't have the photographic memory for numbers that she has!
I miss her so.

Isn't it the most exciting thing MizT? And she announced it so casually. It is the biggest thing that has happened to our SA family.

MizT, I can hardly believe it myself. One of the reasons for quitting smoking. It's a very long plane ride.

hehe That's one GOOD reason to kick that nasty habit. Plus, think of all the money you can put toward your holiday. Put every dollar you would have spent on cigs into a jar and by November...
Congrats BTW on giving up. I kicked it twenty something years ago and never looked back. How's it going?

As for what to pack, bathers and a heavy coat are about the extremes that you will need! The swimmers for Perth and the coat for Melbourne!!!

I still want a cigarette but the gum really helps take care of the cravings. I have absolutely no-one around me who smokes so it isn't bothering me too much.

I have been on the Overland many times. You can choose to travel by day or night. I would suggest if you are travelling by night, spend the extra and get a sleeping compartment. Otherwise, sitting up all night in cramped conditions is no fun.

Suzy gave me some web sites for weather in Perth and Melbourne and November temps look pretty good both places. I'll also be going to New Zealand and it is a little cooler there, but still not too bad.

You have to really want to quit when you make the decision. I was halfway through a packet when the thunderbolt just hit me and I decided there and then to stop. That packet hung around the house for weeks but I never had a craving, luckily.
Hubby and I have sort of seesawed in our smoking. When we met, I smoked and he didn't then he took it up and I gave up. I admit to having had a few in the twenty years but only when there was a drink in the other hand! I can't remember the last time I had a ciggie, probably not since I have lived in Melbourne and that is now 11 years.

How long does the train take from Adelaide to Perth?

It can't be any worse than an overnight bus trip. I've done those before. I wanted too take Amber to Toronto on the train but it seemed way too expensive. That's why the train trip in Australia. She is looking forward to that.
