Rena, mine must be really bored. He volunteered to take me to the grocery today.

Mine, too. He went to town with us and even came to the skating rink to watch Amber skate for the last 20 mins.

Do you skate with her?
Skating sounds like fun. I haven't done that for at least 20 years. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't even try.

I did until a couple of years ago. I find it is really hard on my back. Amber loves to skate. I did, too, when I was a kid. I took figure skating lessons for at least one winter when I was her age.

Does she ice or roller skate? I've never ice skated. Ohio usually doesn't get cold enough and there weren't any public rinks back then.

Sorry, got lost for a few minutes.
She ice-skates and roller blades. She likes to use her roller blades in the house. We have laminate floors, they're tough as nails. Besides, there are no rocks or bumps to fall over.

That's ok.
Hubby got roller blades a few years back. He had to take a bad fall before he's wear the pads and helmet. I don't have enough nerve to get on those.

I don't think I want to try roller blades. I think my body is getting too old for that kind of stuff. I can't even go sledding anymore. I guess I should have taken better care of my back.

I was having problems with my back and started doing exercises for it. They seemed to have helped.

If I could remember to do the exercises, or even remember the exercises, I might get somewhere. The chiropractor gave me some a few years ago and some for my neck. I got to feeling better and stopped doing them. Now I pay the price.

Give him a call. I'm sure they'll give you another copy. Mine gave me a list, too. We could encourage each other, 'cause I need to start them again.

That's a good idea. There are so many things I don't do because I know my back will be sore the next day. Like vacuuming, sweeping and washing the floors.

I scatter those chores through the week. I pick the one that's the worse and leave the rest for another day.

Right now I'm having to vacuum a little every day. Nuka is going through her Big Shed. She is just over a year and 10-14 months is when huskies loose their puppy fur and grow their adult fur. It comes out by the handful for weeks. So I pick the spots around the house with the biggest piles. We have been breathing and eating dog hair for a while now. Should be over soon.

Know what you mean. Our dog is shepherd/husky mix. When we first got him, he was a big fur ball. I was running the vacuum 2-3 times a week. Once the fur clogged up the feeder hose and had to dig it out with a wire clothes hanger. He now sheds year round, but at least it's not in big clumps.

Nuka should shed once or twice a year the same way(they call it blowing the coat) but hopefully not for as long a time. They will shed year round if they live in a warmer climate

We figured it's because he's an indoor dog. He loves cold weather. When it snows he'll either lay down or sit and look around. But, he likes to come in when he's had his fill. Does Nuka do the same?

I think you are right about indoor dogs shedding more. Nuka loves to be outside, especially in the snow. I think she would stay outside a lot longer if she had company. I would love to get another husky, I don't think hubby would. I also need a fenced area so Nuka doesn't have to be tied. I think she would take off after something and get lost. Huskies don't have a very good homing instinct.

We have a fenced in back yard, but have trained him to stay close. He's allowed to go into the neighbor's yards on either side of us, but no further. Once I forgot to close the gait and went to let him in. No dog, walked around to the front of the house and there he was on the porch looking in the door. We've thought about getting another, but our house isn't big enough.

We have an old garden area that was fenced off with posts and wire. I want to get wire fencing(looks kind of like stucco wire) to put up on the posts. Some of the posts need to be replaced. It is quite a large area and would probably keep Nuka quite happy.

Sounds like a good spot. I wish our yard was bigger. He likes to run, but there's not a lot of room back there. We play "chase" when the weather's good. I take an empty box and smack it. He gets so excited that he almost spins in circles.

Nuka likes to play fetch but when she brings back the ball, she doesn't like to let it go. She'll open her mouth a little and when you try to get it she will try to grab your hand, too. When she actually lets go of the ball, it's a race to see who grabs it first.

Ours is the same way. Only he'll get the ball 2-3 times then if you reach for it, he snap his head off to the side.
Is she a big eater? We have to portion his food twice a day. If we don't, he'll eat till there's nothing left. He loves tomatoes. When I make salads, I have to cut a couple extra pieces for him.

She doesn't always eat her dog food all at once. Often she will leave it for a while a come back later. Anything she sees us eating, she will eat. She loves fresh peas in the pod. Oranges are another one of her favourites.

Our's will eat almost all people food. The only things I can think of off hand are radishes and pretzels. He likes also likes oranges. Our first dog liked watermelon.

Good Morning ladies. Is it just coincidence or is it a problem of people with husky--husky/shepherd mix dogs that are here this time of day? Our dog, too, is husky/shepherd mix; and being in the South, she sheds continually.

Watermelon is popular here, too.
I need to go now. Past midnight and I should get some sleep. I'll send you my e-mail in a private message and we can work on getting our backs in shape again. I don't always get here every day but I have gotten into the habit of checking my e-mail at least once a day. Nice to talk to you again, it's been a while. Good night.

Mine won't come out of the bedroom because "Daddy" is out of town and she misses him.

Doing ok. Been kept busy. Either way it beats the alternative.
When hubby was out of town, he'd sit at the window and wait for him to come home. The first time he looked at me as if saying, "What did you do now?"

Why is it always us that's at fault? She comes to me when she wants or needs something and gets very impatient if I can't interpret her. She goes to the guys to play, etc.--the fun stuff.
My son is getting very impatient with me at the moment. He says it's time to be in bed; and since he sets me up before he goes to bed, I guess I better think about going.
I try to get to SA3 daily, but often end up here when there's nobody else here; so I've really enjoyed talking to you, no matter how short a time. Hope to do it again real soon. In the meantime, we'll just keep vacuuming husky hair!
Goodnight, Becky.

I have a quick question--you can answer on my page or whatever when you get a chance. What does our husband say when you're up this late?

I was so hyped up last night after the fun with Gail and Bean that it took me hours to get to sleep. I actually got back out of bed at midnight to do most of the puzzles.
