I don't think Gath will agree to open that old can of worms and have a new chat room. Although Andre though she had a lot of people agreeing with her, when I checked there were only two, Ian and Anne, neither of whom are members, so their vote doesn't count.

I was not around in the 'good old days" of the chat room, so I do not know what it is they are trying to recreate. It sounds like it cold be rather cliquish, you have to be IN to know what they are talking about, and who is who. They do not seem to want a record of the chat, preferring to limit it to those present.It would be more exclusive that way.

I still think they would be better off meeting on someone's page. Then they can go to town and not bother anyone!

I did notice today on the first page of Forum, it said "create your own thread." SA is a thread.

I did use the chatroom here a couple of times before it was changed. I didn't like it so much because sometimes everything goes by so fast you can't keep up. At least here, if you miss something, you can go back and look at it. The thing I don't understand is , why do people want to be anonymous here, and if they want to use the chatroom here, why don't they become a member?

I have an inkling of why. If you go back into the archives before the chatroom a lot of things happened. Some good, some bad.

RENA, I think I read, a couple of the regulars from the chat room are now banned! They cannot get a membership of any kind. Now do not quote me on that, but that is what I got from what I read back a while ago when chat room was again the topic.

Thanks, Stella. I hope everything settles in with your son. Is this his first real time away from home for a long period and on his own? hat's a heavy order for kids at that age. They like to think they're adults, but in their hearts they're used to my mom's home oooking, etc.

So just what did happen? A short version is OK.

The only reason to be anonymous is because you don't want people to associate what you're saying with who you are.

I got the idea some were banned, too, MizT.

There were virtual parties and the posters used aliases. A couple started an on-line affair. Backstabbing and sniping at each other under aliases, etc.

I don't understand why these people want to remain anonymous or use an alias. Are they afraid someone will find out that their usual persona on the comments page is not the rea them?

I was on back then but I never used the chatroom because I thought all of their antics were silly.

This was before the chatroom (2005). The couple are still on the site and one is still using his alias.

STELLA, right you are! I think it is cowardice hiding behind a made up name. NOW, as in the real world, i t is not a crime to change your name, as long as it is not to defraud someone. same here. My real name is not MizTricia, but I am always MizTricia here, and Tricia is my nickname.

Yes Cyndi, this is his first time away from home for anything more than a week. I never thought he would be nervous since D#1 was not, but then again, he is very different from her. I guess I just thought boys wouldn't care.

Can those who were banned get back into this new chat room anonymously or using an alias? I get the feeling that some people want some who were banned from the comments back on the site.

I figured I was going to be "attacked" by a certain person when I posted my opinion of a new chatroom. Maybe he's just lying in wait.

Are we allowed to ask who the couple was, or is that not a good thing to reveal. Although, I guess it was a matter of public record.

I know a ways that they can get back on, but am leery of giving anyone ideas if they see my post. One who was banned is back on though.

Cyndi, if they did not have to registrar for a membership, free or otherwise, to get into the chat room, then yes, it is possible that banned persons could get into the chat room.

Anyone who wants, I'll post the names in their inbox so as the general population won't see it.
