Well done you lot for carrying on with SA8 I thought it was a shame to start a new one when we were so close to 500 pages. I hadn't been having any problems either.

I am not known for CPing but will try and waffle just to help the quest for 500 pages along

The snow is falling again here so I think I may use internet shopping again for my groceries.

I will have 10 people for dinner tonight so decided on making meat balls and pasta. Something quick and simple. It didn't take me too long to make 71/2 dozen meat balls (small ones as there are young kids coming. This is a family thing not a dinner party thing.

I have just lost a furry lap warmer, Andrew has put his shoes on to take the dogs for a walk in the snow, Callie was asleep on my lap.

well I have now added 6 waffling posts so will go and do some knitting

Have you convinced Indi to sleep curled around your feet yet? You could then keep lap and feet warm, but then you'd never want to get up from the 'pooter.

Today we have to dig holes for fence posts, and set the posts in concrete. Tomorrow we'll hang new gates and transfer some wires, then we have to sort the cow herd. We need to put all the pregnant cows in the calving pasture.

We start calving in about 2 weeks. Calves can come up to 10 days early.

Heidi I don't sit at a computer desk, I sit on the recliner sofa with my feet up. Indi sometimes will come and sit at my side keeping me warm like that.

I hope the weather gets a little milder for your calving time. Making it pleasanter for you and probably safer for the calves.

We have a nice, comfy shed for the cows to go into when they calve. It's only 2 sided, so they don't feel confined, but the 2 sides are the ones that block all wind. The calves don't have much trouble with the cold, it's cold mud that kills them. The shed is on high ground, and stays dry inside. And it's big enough to hold the entire herd plus calves.
