HEIDI, Domes are what my hubby does, he builds kits for geodesic domes, usually used for homes, garages, and storage buildings. Ships the kits all over the USA, one even went to Hawaii.

His domes are wooden, from dimensional lumber (timbers) and plywood. Photos on my page showed a customer's domes being put together, and also the domes we hope will someday be our home. At the moment, the domes out back are his shop and office and one is sort of empty where he is doing some work inside. Photos are all of smaller domes, larger ones are 2 story, but we did not want 2 story, getting older you know, so we built a series of smaller domes for us.

Heidi, yes, those domes are very structurally strong. we have several of his domes up along the Alabama and Florida coast. They have survived direct hits from Hurricanes. One, that was unfinished, only the plywood shell and roofing, was shelter for an entire extended family for one of the many hurricanes, they were about 25 miles inland.

Once, we had Category one hurricane winds here, we do not often get anything but a weak tropical storm by time it gets to us. we spent 24 hours in the shop, we could not even hear the wind blowing. It was enough here power was out to a very large area of the state, and trees were down all over the area. Our domes are our storm shelters for tornadoes and hurricanes.

June you didn't scare me off last night. I was just very tired! We didn't get to go to sleep for another hour after I left though - Ally was off singing and didn't get home until after 10.30. Very late for her. I'll see how she goes today before I decide if this is going to be a regular thing...

Funny of the day:

Bubba died in a fire and his body was burned pretty badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so they sent for his two best friends, Darryl and Gomer. The three men had always done everything together.

Darryl arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, Darryl said, "Yup, his face is burned up pretty bad. You better roll him over." The mortician rolled him over, and Darryl said, "Nope, ain't Bubba."

The mortician thought this was rather strange. So he brought Gomer in, to confirm the identity of the body. Gomer looked at the body and said, "Yup, he's pretty well burnt up. Roll him over." The mortician rolled him over, and Gomer said, "No, it ain't Bubba."

The mortician asked, "How can you tell?"
Gomer said, "Well, Bubba had two a**holes."
"What? He had two a**holes?" asked the mortician.
Yup, I never seen 'em, but everyone knew he had two a**holes. Every time we went to town, folks would say, "Here comes Bubba with them two a**holes."

If nobody is going to come out to talk to me, I will have to talk to myself.
