Hope your grandson gets better soon! That must be really tough on him.

Brendan is there on an academic scholarship, but he chose that school because the coach said he would get to play alot. But we've learned that coaches will say anything. The rest of the team want him to play and recognize his ability. But it must be something about his style that the coach has decided he doesn't like. Although, he keeps telling Brendan that nothing is wrong. It's just very frustrating.

LIZ, I am not that old, to need a " facility" not yet hehehe. The eat desert first is a thing said with the RED HAT SOCIETY, the ladies who wear purple with a red hat. have a friend in that, and I just turned old enough to be a member I believe. I think my friend started the first chapter in oz, I know it was the first in her city but think was first in the country. do not quote me on that.

Stella, congrats, I did not realize it either!

BTW, I got mail from GATH today and he said he closed SA5. I have not checked to see. Said when he saw my first e-mail he went in and only had time to close 5, but in his sleep deprived state, clicked the wrong box and left it open. I wonder if baby Flynn is keeping them awake??

I didn't realize that Gath's wife had the baby already! It seems like yesterday when it was announced! Flynn is a boy, I assume. They must be ecstatic and also sleep deprived!

Since my computer has been broke, I haven't been able to see all of the kids pictures from Cairo, Spain and Italy. Hopefully, I'll see them soon and maybe post a few.

Meghan is busy at school as usual. She just got a second job, babysitting. Still is still an editor for the newspaper which occupies all of Sunday until 3am and Wednesday evening until 3am. She is also taking an extra class. I don't know how she does it all. Plus, her body is still messed up from the diet she had in Cairo and too much dairy or meat makes her sick. She looked better when we saw her over the weekend. She came back from Cairo very malnourished.

Bryana seems to be doing well at school. Her advisor got a job coaching a national hockey team, so she has to find a new one. Her group had four girls in it and they have to be slpit up now, so they are all upset about it. I'm sure it will all work out though. She also has a soccer game today. We have nice weather for it anyway, cool and low humidity.

OH NO, sorry to hear she had problems with diet in Cairo. I have heard of other exchange students having that problem, a big stink about one who lost about 25% of his body weight or more! Athlete who was accustomed to huge amounts of protien, and family could not supply him enough, did not understand his need for that much food, espically meat that was expensive, although he was served more than the family was. PLUS he was there during Ramadan last year, and they were fasting all day.

It is cooler and lower humidity here also. our first bit of cool, I think overnight low went to 60. highs are in low 80's for a couple hours a day. but it is not the clear blue October skies yet, hazy, cloudy, yuck looking out.

Stella, I need to move about some now, getting uncomfortable to sit upon my situpon. Very good to chat with you, reminds me of old times! I was thinking of the last to post contest just the other day and what a hoot that was.

Hope you have a gret day, that both kiddiwinks get to play in their game today and that Max is also doing well in school.

Looking forward to seeing photos of thier summer trips, do let us know when you get some uploaded.

She was sharing an apartment with another student, but the food there is very different and doesn't have the same nutrients and fats as here. Plus, you can't drink the water there because it is contaminated and she got sick several times from food that maybe was in it or maybe ice, or something. So that didn't help either. I think it was ramaden when she was there as well, but she doesn't observe that.

Good Morning Mariana and Vici. I did have a good walkabout, Mariana, and a sit in my recliner, much softer chair, read part of my book also.

VICI was it you who suggested author Ann Patchett? Thanl you, whomever, for suggesting it. I am enjoying her writing style and getting lost in a very short novel. Most interesting story.

"Bel Canto by Ann Patchett should be on the list of every literate music lover. The story is riveting, the participants breathe and feel and are alive, and throughout this elegantly-told novel, music pours forth so spendidly that the reader hears it and is overwhelmed by its beauty. Ann Patchett is a special writer who has written a special book."

I have not caught up on the reading either, must read 17-20 sometime today!

From necessity, I am doing a tad of cooking. Today's dinner is finished, I was as tired of chicken(s) as CynB! Made a pot of beef stew. with a presssure cooker and tinned veggies, it was not tiring. I was a good girl and sat while the meat cooked in the cooker, then finished it up with the veg and the seasonings. There is cornbread from the freezer for hubby, just one slice left, but he enjoys it so, he can have it. I have a problem with cornbread or corn chips and my dentures, it is not worth the hassell to eat it!

Hi Everybody. Crazy day so far. Nearly murdered idiot husband.

Stella, I think I may understand what is going on with Brendan. He has an acedemic scholarship. Most of the other players have athletic scholarships. The coach would be under a lot of pressure from the boosters and athletic department to let the ones that they are supporting financially get the most playing time. In other words, they want to get their moneys worth out of those players. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Brendan's athletic ability.
There now. It's nothing personal. Just moronic bottom line people who think that it is a business, not a school.

Wow!...Just read about 5 pages since my last post to try and find out what all of you crazy folks were doing....and now all I can really remember is laughing my fool head off reading about accents. Who has them and who doesn't...I'm sure I don't!!!
BTW, A big hello to all. I hope everyone gets to play in the assorted games, meets go well, and at least one meet gets video taped so Ruby can put voices with some faces.
Continued healing to those who have been ill....
Heidi, Please...Don't kill hubby....we couldn't raise enough money to get you out of the pokey....have a great day all...see you when I see you...Peace!

I'm back from chiro (not Cairo, tho Stella ) and grocery shopping - actually have a bit of a plan for meals this week. I think Gail and MzT are rubbing off on me!
Heidi - how did the blood draw go?
Stell - so good to hear from you and all about the kids. Am keeping good thoughts for Brendan getting some playing time.
Mz T - I heard that the Anne Pachett book you are reading was a good one. I really liking mine, too. Lovely writing style.

NOT "I said i was celebrating my birthday early by having lunch today with my gf."

How was your needle poke, by the way?
Hope you are resting after giving up all that blood!

VICI, soo funny you thinking I have a southern Drawl! People here think I am from up north! I have never had as heavy a Southern accent and most here. Even as a child my father's Italian friend called me a totally politically incorrect name, Dago, because I talked so fast and differently from others here . I imagine I sound much more Southern than your friends in Utah hehehe.

RUBY, good for you, refusing to have diabeties!

I hope Heidi comes home with some blood left after visiting the vampires. When tired and sleeping is the problem, there are many many things they should look at so no telling which one kept Heidi fasting.

AND page 18

RENA, with " weel" I thought you were showing off your beautiful accecentless speach hehehe

V Viv, I think you did have a little tiny misplacemnt of a helping word there! Darn if i can remember if it is an adgetive or adverb, and too sleepy here to look it up hehehe. early celebration, much better placement. And of course you knew just what you meant. We should have just read your mind hehehe.

Morning all!

Stella - I hope Brendan gets to play. Heidi's comment makes lots of sense, unfortunately!

MizT - that cooking doesn't like too much like you overdid it. I think it sounds like you're still obeying docs orders.

Accents - I grew up in a country town with a bunch of real aussies and for some reason always spoke like I had a plum in my mouth. Couldn't help it, just the way my voice worked. Went to the US for 10 years and came back sounding normal!!!

ok, i am done with easy. i just can't win. the world is against me. i think i will stay here in my safe spot.
now, I really don't have an accent. after a while i start picking up the accent of whoever i am talking to. it is so embarrassing! i tell myself "stop it! you sound like and idiot! just talk normal!" sadly, the more i try to be normal the worse it gets.

Glad to hear you needle poke went well.

The TV is making me feel guilty for not donating blood recently. But now we can only donate when the mobile collection service is in town and only with an appointment it makes it hard. I donated more often when I could just rock up to the hospital and wait in line.

I am a bit like that Mariana. When I first moved to the US I worked with a girl who said 'cool' all the time. At that time it was very uncool to say cool in Australia. Within a few weeks I found myself saying cool too! Never did find a way to stop.....
