I am glad you enjoyed your day off Gail. I am off tomorrow. It is election day and a lot of the schools are used as polling places. They don't want all the strangers on campus with the kiddies so kiddies and teachers get the day off!!!

Gail you got my horse! I think a horse that is zipping along has a much better chance of winning than a mad horse in a rush!

Suzy, her decluttering stories are mostly about the masses of stuff that some accumulate - a truck needed to cart away stuff from a 3 brm house, etc. You know the type. One thing that I thought of myself is - my bedroom built in has 3 hanging areas, tops, bottoms, long things. Whenever I return clothes to it after washing, ironing etc. I put the item to the far left. At the far right I end up with clothes I don't wear any more - easy to get rid of. She has given me a few tips though.

that is the only thing I ever win so wouldn't be much of a disappointment

1. do a bit at a time - 15 min a day EVERY day - one drawer/shelf etc - do one room at a time.
2. have 3 piles - keep, donate/sell, throw
3. anything you're unsure of whether you want to keep, put in a box to be reviewed in 6 months. If you haven't missed it by then, get rid of it.
4. take photos of sentimental stuff, and get rid of the item (easy for her to say, she has no child made treasures!!)
5. make your bed as soon as your feet hit the floor and always have your sink clean
6. handle stuff once. don't drop your mail on the table, deal with it - recycle pile/file/add to clip of bills to be paid
7. Every time you buy an item of clothing, get rid of a similar one, or even two
8. donate rather than throw where possible - gives you a good feeling
9. have a cordless phone with headphones, while you're talking, walk around tidying.
More are going to keep popping into my head all day. Mr Google probably has heaps more

I don't know if I have missed anyones special days while I have been missing... if so I hope they were good days.

Celia is now out of hospital, after nearly eight weeks, and is back home much to her delight

Melbourne Cup day is like the Grand national here in the UK. That is the only race I ever have a bet on, so can understand what is going on.

Wah! I can't find a picture of my horsie. I want to know Viewed's colours. I going back to folding too Suzy. Sometimes I wish we lived in a nudist colony!!!

Oh as of tomorrow my bathroom renovations will be FINISHED it has been a long long time going on but the bathrooms both look good. In a cople of weeks time we are starting on more work but that is taking place in the attic so shouldn't disrupt the house too much.
I assume some people are trying to get rid of clutter in their homes. Here in the UK, not sure if it happens anywhere else, we freecycle objects we no longer want. We offer them for free to anyone who wants them by placing an add on a local freecycle web site.
We have just got rid of some games and books this weekend and that is just the start of our attempt to declutter.

I am going to look up my horse on line and see what it looks like.
