my funny friend alison. you can't cheat while playing games with just anyone!
bean- i never felt that way about feeling bad that the baby wasn't with me ALL the time. i hate pregnancy and am so glad to get a small break once in awhile. i did love the excitement to "the baby is coming" though. there is nothing like meeting a spirit so fresh from heaven.

eaa, so you like cracklin's? Throw cholesterol to the winds! Do you season peas, green beans or greens with fat back? My mother was a child of the Great Depression, raised on a farm, and ate lots of fat back. However, she decided later that fat back meant you were poor, so she seasoned with ham hock. Her cooking certainly was tasty. Collards porka bucco!

Bean, so Lachie is going to be eighteen! That's the age of majority in Oz, isn't it? It is here, too, except for hard liquor you have to be twenty-one. From your pictures he looks like a nice young man. I hope he has a great day.
While we're on the topic, how do you pronounce "Lachie?" Is is "Latch-ie," "Lack-ie," or "Lock-ie?" What is the formal name? I like the look of it, and in thirty years of teaching, I saw some names.

My grandmother used to season with old fat/drippings. She'd either scrape it into a container that was kept in the fridge or just leave it in the pan where it went hard until the next time it was heated. I was never able to enjoy her cooking in quite the same way again when I found that out!!!

Mariana, most people have clothes dryers, but until relatively recently they were usually used for emergencies only. The good old Hills Hoist in the back yard is the way to do things. So there is tradition, but there are also electricity bills and climate change - doin' my part...

Ruby... we pronounce it Lockie. He went through a stage where he only answered to his full name Lachlan....[pronounced locklan] I turned up at kindergarten to pick him up one day and was informed that he hadn't let anyone shorten his name at all. I often call him Lok as well.

i do hand dry alot of the clothes just to make them last longer. i line dried everything in italy and it was such a pain! the necks of the t-shirts just don't do well drip drying. i also have a natural gas dryer. things get dry in half an hour. wow this is a switch from the conversation on easy! rr is on one tonight! he is not someone i would want to go head to head with in a debate! i just wanted to smooth the waters. i get so uncomfortable with confrontation.

Mariana, I had a gas dryer in CA. It was WONDERFUL! Absolutely gigantic, dried stuff in no time. But I'm on bottled gas here so even if I can buy a gas dryer (haven't looked for one so don't know if they're available) it would be was too expensive to run..
