Sandy has had her surgery. It was a MASSIVE pyometra. Mike the Vet believes she would have been dead in less than 24 hours if he hadn't operated when he did. Fortunately, it hadn't ruptured, so we didn't have to worry about that. He got everything out, and sent me pictures of the mess. Sandy is so stubborn and stoic that she wasn't letting me see what shape she was in until it was almost too late. I am so relieved. I get to bring her back home in 5 hours. She'll be much happier recovering at home and I know Mike doesn't want a repeat of what happenned to Heidi the Malinois a year ago.

Sandy is back home again. She's still out of it from the anasthesia, but she knows she's home again. And she's starting to act like her old self already.

Wow, next page will be #400!
It's Good Friday here in Australia. So Happy Easter everyone. I imagine it will be a quiet one for everyone since we're all in isolation.
We are allowed to have 2 family visitors as long as we observe social distancing. So my daughter and her partner will come over one day for a visit. That will be nice.

Heidi, I'm glad Sandy is home recovering. So lucky you caught it when you did.
Julie, I have one stepping stone done except for the grouting and the other one mapped out to start today. I hope to have them both finished and grouted by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed.

Sandy is starting to get her appetite back. But she's too clever. She knows if I have pills hidden in food and carefully removes the pills. Even if they're wrapped in bacon!
Just doing busy work. I repaired some fences and did some clean-up today. The temperature dropped too much today for me to wade into the fish pond and plant the water lily. It's supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow.

Heidi,
Brenda is home and getting better. She was just on Facebook.
Suzy was on FB last night and has been okay. Ally is with her which is good with this isolation. Their town is short on supplies but they manage.

Had my visit from my daughter yesterday, I can't tell you how happy I was to sit several feet away from her and have a conversation for an hour or so. Then she went and got me some supplies.
Today I'm going to hide Easter Eggs and then Facetime with my grandies, 4 of who are adults mind you. And then they can direct me where they want me to look. I'll keep the eggs until I can find a way to get to them.

Hi, Everyone!

Heidi, I'm so glad that Sandy had her surgery, it went well, and she is back at home to recuperate!

CynB, I can hardly believe that you already have one of the stepping stones done (except for grouting) and the other one planned! You are a quick worker, and obviously very creative!

Heidi, I hope the weather cooperates and you're able to plan the water lily!

DOrA, thanks for the Public Service announcement! Its funny, but true!

Wow CynB! How nice that your D was allowed to come for a visit and some quality time and conversation! What a help to have her run to the store and gat some of the things you needed! I hope the virtual Easter Egg hunt goes well!

Thinking of everyone and sending, first of all, wishes for a Happy Passover, and now wishes for a Happy Easter!

I'm sending many {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, positive thoughts, healing energy, prayers, and ! Take care of yourselves and stay healthy!

Sandy is feeling her old self. Mike the Vet was here to check his cows and Sandy INSISTED on accompanying him out into the pasture. First, she laid down and rolled on her back to show him how well the incision is healing. Then he couldn't stop her.... she was so fast and sneaky getting through the gates with him. This was the first time she decided to accompany him on a cow check. Normally she stays with me. I got the impression that she realizes that he saved her life.

Today started out horribly.

Whimsey has been out with the trainer for the past 4 weeks. I was due to pick her up at noon today. At 7:30 am (I was sound asleep) I got a phone call from them telling me that she was colicking, and I needed to call Mike the Vet immediately. I called him, gave him directions, and rushed out there as fast as I could. Fortunately, she was in the early stages and Mike was able to get it under control. I brought her back home with me once he determined that she was fit to travel. He'll check on her again when he's here this afternoon. She's not going to be ridable or drivable for a while, while she's recuperating.

Whimsey is back out with the other horses and acting normally again. She really gave me a scare.

The temperature has dropped again. They're calling for a frost timorrow night. I hope it doesn't get that cold. Most of the local fruit trees are just finishing their blooming, and a hard frost would destroy this year's fruit crop. It's too cold to fool with installing the new pump in the pond. I'm going to have to wait until next week to do it. At least the pump has arrived here. I did get the waterlily (red flowers) planted in the pond. I bought one bare root, with just 4 tiny leaves, so it'll take a while before it looks it's best. At least the 2 huge clumps of Louisians Irises (dark purple flowers) are overhanging part of the pond to provide shade for the fish.

Hmm, I don't see my post from yesterday, only the posts I responded to. Well, there is Heidi's newer post about Whimsey. I'm glad to hear she is back out with the other horses! Good news, indeed!

I hope the predictions are wrong and the temperature stays warmer than expected. It would be awful to lose a good share of this year's fruit crop!

The clumps of Louisiana irises overhanging part of the pond sound beautiful! Will the water lily grow much this year or will it take into next year to enjoy it?

It never occurred to me that medical supplies might be in short supply. I put in my prescription for my Arthritis tablets yesterday only to find they were out of them and expecting 3 (only 3) boxes to arrive late yesterday. Fortunately for me it did arrive so I have to go back this morning to collect. Took my last tablet last night. Phew! I wasn't looking forward to the pain if I couldn't get them. I guess pharmaceutical companies are working hard to supply to the front line that production of other medications gets delayed.

I order dog food online, In normal times, it is delivered in 2-3 days. This time, I ordered nearly 2 weeks early. FedEx was supposed to deliver, yesterday. Then they were supposed to deliver today. Didn't happen. I'm out of food for the hound, so, tomorrow I break quarantine and drive 70 miles to buy a bag. No he doesn't get people food. Well maybe a wee taste now and then.....

I did a small good deed. Since my bout with double pneumonia, my lung capacity has been less than ideal, but slowly improving. One of my doctors had me using oxygen at night to keep the levels where they need to be, but I've been using it less often lately. Right now, with this Covid-19 nightmare, there are a lot more people needing the machine more than I do, so I sent it back to be used by someone who really needs it. Plus, I sent the backup tank back, too. So 2 people can be helped. I've kept myself well isolated from anybody who's been exposed, so the machine and tank are totally clear of viral contamination.

I buy several hundred pounds of dog food at a time and store the extra bags in plastic tubs, DOrA. I do not let myself run below 25 pounds in reserve, so the dogs don't go hungry.

We had a nice surprise yesterday. When Col came home he checked the mailbox and got out a big envelope that was marked from my son's three daughters. We opened it up and there was an Easter card plus her latest school photograph and a short note from Chloe, the youngest. Her sisters Emily and Hayley had both written us heartfelt letters telling us how they'll miss not seeing us at Easter and how they love and appreciate us. It was such a joy and better than any present anyone could give us. It was topped off by a charcoal sketch Hayley had done of Col and I from a photograph taken on our cruise last year.
I love those girls!

Cyn, You were right, except.....

As I didn't have any dog food left, the hound got a special breakfast. Rice with bacon bits and one scrambled egg. He didn't seem to mind, too much.

I figured I could go to town, a little later, if necessary. Late morning, FedEx showed up. Crisis averted...

They had to replace the front tire of my lawnmower.... it was beyond repair. I just got the new one back home at 6:30 pm, installed it, and spent the last 45 minutes mowing the areas outside the fenced in yard. Tomorrow I'll mow the lawn again. All this rain we've had has really encouraged the grass to grow.

I've had to order front tires for my mower, too. Actually, a David Brown 990. I'll, hopefully, pick them up tomorrow. Then the only excuse I'll have is ''the ground is too wet / soft''. (I really don't want to leave ruts everywhere...

My mower is a 54'' cut Zero-turn Bad Boy. I love it! Not only is it easy to handle but it has a fuel gauge to show me how much gas it holds right now, and a cup holder!

You use a David Brown 0990 tractor as a lawn mower? I'd hate to see the ruts it leaves on a soft lawn.

That's why a lot of my 'lawn' doesn't get mowed until late June or early July. With the trees blocking the sun, most of the fence line and some of the trails have to wait, also. I do have a 21'' walk behind I use in a VERY LIMITED AREA. No way I'd ever use it for the mile and a quarter fence line and 'nature trails'...

We are 'flattening the curve' here in Australia. There are fewer new cases every day. Still a way to go before rules are relaxed but proof that isolation is working. But, of course, we are an island nation of only 25 million or so. We closed our national and state borders quickly.
I watch the numbers in other countries in Europe and the US and I worry for you all. A long way to go. Stay safe!
