Good morning Suzy, MizT, Mariana, Broni, Heidi, Vici and anyone else I've forgotten.
Monday morning here - it's Ekka time in Brisbane. That's our Royal National Show or Exhibition (hence, in aussie slang Ekka) - like a State Fair with the animals, crafts and side shows. I used to love going as a child and took my kids as they grew up but only go every few years now, this year not being one of those - but have taken my grandchildren before. Like everything else nowadays it's sooooo crowded there and on public transport getting there and very expensive, it's lost it's appeal.

Plans for the party seem to be coming along well -
Yes, we'll start breakfast later, maybe 9am sudoku time. Broni, good idea to bring the cyber boat to the door, much more convenient for us all. Vici - the Mamma Mia idea is brilliant - what better way to spend a fun day than by singing along to ABBA. And Mariana - your offer to clean up is the most brilliant - I'm sure both Broni and I will be delighted with your help.

Haven't heard a word from either the buyer or our solicitor about whether settlement is still OK for Friday. Getting philosophical about it, if it happens, it happens. If not, as I said to hubby, as long as we've got each other, we'll cope. We do have a legal contract and a substantial deposit which he stands to lose if he doesn't pull his finger out.

Party still on whatever happens. I'll need it either way! And with that CP+1, I'll leave. TTFN.

Hello, y'all!

Heidi, I have a cousin in Gray, Tenn., who has a quarter horse ranch and who shows in halter as well as reining and cutting. He was probably at that show.

Half an hour and no more posts.
Better news on the sale front - finally heard from the buyer - he's had the flu and sounds terrible. All should be okay for Friday as long as his bank can get themselves organised in time. Now I AM off to do invoices. Ciao.

Back again - I left clues for you! Was thinking SA5ers would have been on the trail and worked it out... Aussies don't pronounce her name correctly even after watching China Beach and the X-Files.....

Ruby, you're no fun at all!!!! They're the examples I use when trying to teach Aussies that Dana is pronounced Dayna, not Darna or Danna....

While spraying a pesky wasps' nest last evening, I realized I was standing on a fire ant mound. Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch! Now my leg and foot will look like I have small pox for the next six months.

Tell the Aussies to imitate a southern drawl. That's why we have no problem with it. I even know people who say May-re for Mary.

My friend whose husband died recently and I went to see Moma Mia this afternoon at the two-dollar show and enjoyed it. I gave her the sound-track, but she's not the sing-along type so we just listened to it. That is probably just as well because I shouldn't be the sing-along type.

Hi MizT.
Thanks Suzy - I'll remember Da(y)na.
I did watch China Beach, but that was too long ago to remember character names but I didn't watch X Files so that was no clue.
I'm not here - back to invoicing! Byeee

May Pops are good for something besides popping and making ballerinas? We had some neighbors who gathered the vines to sell to a patent medicine company years ago. (We had some truly strange neighbors--even "Deliverance" types.)

My dzughter the budding gourmet cook buys passion fruit at some unimaginably high price and scrapes out the little bit of pulp and made something with it, I forget what. she was a td uspst i ahd them growing in the bak hard here. I love the flowers, they look so very exotic! One can buy passionflower vines, again for some very high price. I think iti s because they do not transplant well and they do not like to be " messed with". I even tried growing them from seed, from my own seeds, with no luck.

fore ant bites, I find that mine get better faster if I drain them. If not, as you said they look like small pox for 6 months. after they are drained, just like unsightly purple spots.

You just leave those may pops alone and in a few years you should have a viable crop.
