RUBY, not far from me, there are roof of bright blue and red as well as the more traditional " tin" room flok, from the coated steel " tin" roofing. I love the red one, myself!
OH SUZY, that was a hard decision about your daughter's friend! I hope the Mom can nip that behavior in the bud. AND watch that child for a while, she might just rebell against her Mom for trying to stop her from going to that party, and act out more. If she is still friends with your daughter, could try to bring her along too. OH I am so glad I do not have girls in this day and age, it is soo much worse than when mine were girls. I do hope this turns out for the good with that child. sometimes they are just testing limits and once they know they cannot get away with it, settle down, but sometimes not. VERY level headed daughter you have, so disregard the above
SUZY, about the 3,600 times telling. I had to stop my 4 to 6 year old daughter at the table, fore she sat down, and send her back to wash her hands. I came up with "If I have told you once I have told you 500 times, go wash fore comming to table. You know I will send you back, why do you do it??" Her answer (and it was soo hard to keep a straight stern face as she said this) But Mommie, one time, you forgot!!

Something has gone wrong at my house... Hubby has always given the kids their 15 minute warnings (like the snooze button on an alarm clock), woken them and made their lunches. This week I have been doing these things plus all the stuff I usually do... How did hubby become un-trained??? Sigh. So now I have to go and make lunches etc. Maybe I'll come back later.

JUNE, Brenda, I got a first class upgrade from Hartford CT to whatever hub city , forget which one, and Oh, it was wonderful. My flight had been canceled, and I had to wait almost 2 hours for the next. Not long enough for a meal, but they served drinkies and although it was justnoon, I did have a little taste.
BRENDA, I do think I shall like my new doctor! I do not like the time I had to wait in his waiting room, and again in his exam room, it was almost 2 hours total, but when he got to me, he had all the time in the world to read all my history, ask questions, and decide what to do first. I shall just remember to get appointment EARLY in his day or first after his lunch, and might not take as long. Might even call ahead and see just how for behind he is ( am only 15 min away) and get there a bit later too. I think I can live iwth this for he is the kindest and most caring doctor I have had in forever! I have a lot of tests ahead of me, some he would "do for everyone, short or tall" and some to help figure out my achies. I think we can work together.

SUZY, fast fst, get him back in training! I have found if I ONCE do something for hubby he usually does, it becomes my job.
we do not have an ice maker on our fridge. well, we have one, it is not hooked to a water line, cause of the kind of lines we have you cannot punch holes into. Long story, but trust me on this. Soo it is my job to fill the bin with ice made in trays. OK, I can do that cause I LIKE ICE, and he would not think to fill them till there was no ice. BUT he started taking ice out to the dome, too, for his colas and tea and drinks he serves and drinks out there. OK, needs ice trays emptied twice a day now, but the second one is not my job. He wants ice,he empties the trays and takes it out there.
Well other day I happened to have more ice than would fit the bin, so I put in a "to go bag" for him. when I gave it to him I told him IT IS NOT MY JOB hehehe, has happened several times since, becuase we are not using as much in there with him using ice out there, and he giggles at me, but he gets the message.

Suzy, I agree with MizT, hubby used to do the dishes at night while I put the kids to bed. He complained when they got older that he still had that job (even though I still had to do the cooking)and slowly stopped when we got the dishwasher. But someone (me!) has to pack the dishwasher etc and now he does nothing!!!

The house is empty again! Hubby got out of bed at 8.30 and was showered and on his way out of the door at 8.45... I think I will have to put my foot down soon. It's hard to justify when I give myself time in here during the day, but I won't always be able to do that...

I have fed the machine as, although the forecast said it would rain today, there are sunny skies. I have always done most of my washing on the weekend with a midweek wash for essentials that will run out otherwise. The weather we have been having has turned my routine on its head!!

MizT, your doctor reminds me of the one I had in the States. If you needed time, he gave it to you, no matter how many people were sitting in the waiting room. I used to have a mantra for the days I waited forever - you can't complain, you can't complain, you can't complain.. It was always worth the wait.

Suzy, I'm glad you "dobbed." (I've never heard that expression before.) If there was an open invitation on MySpace there is no end to the troublesome characters, substances and items that could attend. Evil flourishes when good men (and women) are silent.

Hi Ruby, LA and Orange Counties in Southern California. LA County for 4.5 years, Orange County (15 minutes from Disneyland) for 5.5 years. When living in LA County I worked on the border of LA and Culver City - hence my contact with the riots.

I'm still not sure about the dobbing, but I did emphasise that there may have been some big talking and the key would be if she actually asked to stay at a friend's for the weekend.

Quiet on here today. I took Laura for her first proper hair cut (I have trimmed it before). Then to watch the ice skating at the shopping centre. And I had found a 40 year old childs apron so we made shortbread biscuits this afternoon. Start teaching her young to cook!
She decided we would watch a train video also. A change from what we had the other day.

Just got home from buying d1 a new top to wear to the disco tonight. Got a bargain at a new shop - Top Brands, Warehouse Prices - except mostly jackets and jeans, really nice ones though. Had to do a quick run up to Barkins to get something to go with the top she picked...

You've triggered yet another memory of mine June - I went to get a haircut when d2 was about 2 - she sobbed the whole time, screamed and sobbed, 'no mommy, no mommy'. I'm not sure what she thought was happening, but she calmed down as soon as she saw me afterwards. Did she think I wouldn't be me anymore? Did she think I would bleed to death if they attacked me with scissors? I will never know...

Nearly forgot - was asked if I could drive the neighbour I dobbed on to the disco tonight, so either she hasn't been told that I dobbed on her, or the disco was too important to hold grudges and she couldn't get there unless I took her.

Hi Broni and Suzy.
I can now spend a few moments back on the computer. Laura has gone home and the place looks like a bomb hit it.
Laura decided she would wash all the dishes from our cooking. Have you had a 2 1/2 year old wash your dishes in cold water??

Back, picked up the kids, still no comment from neighbour. I also mentioned the party to the Year 9 Year Advisor. Not sure what he can do, but maybe something. Another teacher suggested calling the police, but they can't do anything until there are already underage kids drinking at the beach - too late!

Suzy, one more visit to the dobbing topic. Sometimes kids want to be caught or stopped. They don't feel ready for whatever activity but they feel real and perceived peer pressure. When you stop them they are actually relieved, but probably won't let on. Later, when their friends ask why they didn't do whatever, they can say with disgust "My mother..." It works out beautifully for them.

Hello All...Oh boy am I glad you weren't too chatty and I was able to quickly catch up on the comments...
Suzy, First, conrats on raising a very bright young lady, and for being the kind of Mom that children will talk to, secondly, I agree with Ruby's last comment, you helped than young girl anyway you look at it....So good to have folks like you demonstrating what being a parent is all about...taint easy, but so very necessary!
Miz T, sounds like you found a good doctor...there are still a few around. May your outcome of the bcc removal be favorable, including complete healing.
