Doing ok. Been kept busy. For the next few weeks, will be painting a couple of rooms and refinishing our bedroom floor. Never done a floor before and will probably make a hash out of it.

You were talking about carpet before. Is that what you are using and are you laying it yourself?

The carpet is going into the dining room, living room and hallway. The company we're buying it from is going to lay the carpet, because it's built into the price.
I'm ripping out the carpet in the bedroom. The floor is hardwood and am going to sand and poly it. Hubby's got allergies and am hoping this will help.

That is a big job. Have you looked into having it done professionally. You will need a sander with a good vacuum attachment so that you do not create too much dust. Also you need to fill all nail holes etc after you have punched down all the nails. Sand with the grain of the wood and do not use too course a sand paper so that it does not leave 'grove' marks. I have not done a floor but I do some French Polishing of furniyure.

I've checked having someone do it and it's way more than the carpet. The room is small and figured I'd see what kind of condition the wood is in first. If it's not very good, will use an electric hand sander for the edges, varnish the edges and get an area rug to fit. I know it's "cheating," but the carpet is really old and needs getting rid of.

When we were first married the company that we worked for had homes for rent when you were sent interstate. The floors were varnished around the edges to fit each new tennants carpet!
There are some good sisal carpets on the market now that should not be a problem for your husbands allergies.
Just about finished cooking dinner so better go and dish up.
Good to have a chat.

Missed you by () much! Cheated tonight and bought take away. Hate wasting money on take away but just did not feel up to cooking. d2 had netball practice and d1 had gone to a friend's house after a school excursion. They went to see Sharkwater at the movies. An interesting documentary she says.

Hi Suzy, Gail and Broni.
Now I am back you will probably have to go and cook!
Our computers are always on and the room is in the middle of the house and near the kitchen. That is why I can keep dropping in and checking or posting.

Hi all, no doubt you have all left now. I just dropped by to read pages before getting on with some work.
Suzy the chocolatiers I was asking about are actually Australian, based in Victoria. I just remembered that my husband did some work recovering a corrupted computer file for them some years ago. It actually only took him a matter of minutes to do, so instead of sending them an invoice he said they could send him some samples of their chocolates. Husband is a bigger chocoholic than me. They did send us some samples and they were really good. This is their website address www.kennedyandwilson.com.au

When we were in Junee (on our way to Melbourne) we went to the organic licorice factory and they also made chocolates and we bought some ginger chocolates that were to die for.

Sounds like Laura when you give her chocolate. After she has had a taste or lick 'I don't like it. You eat it"

Have a look at their website Gail, they are rather expensive, from the samples we had they are really for special occasions. The packaging was rather nice though. 4 chocolate bears for $12.00, only about 2" high weighing 10gms each Works out at $300 a kilo

I must admit the chocolate was very very nice but I doubt I would pay THAT much for it. We bought some Belgian chocolates over the weekend and thought they were pricey at £16 ($32) a kilo

I like a nice chocolate. You get some speciality shops that make their own.
Stopped in a bakery in Switzerland that made their own chocolates and there was always a dish available to help yourself.
