Sudoku: 4/26/08
Here is another way of solution:
1) UP = 23 -> UP=26
2) YW: (27)a39=(5)a9-(5=7)c9 -> c2≠7, UP=27
3) (6)g45=(6-1)h6 =(1)h1-(1=8)g1 -> g45≠8, UP=81

sotir,
In your solution for the 16 aug tough you state UP 81 after the coloring step but I can only get to UP 45 after that step.

Hi Sotir,in your solution today,I could only get to UP 48 in step 2 instead of UP 53.Did I miss something or did you miscount the UPs ? Your step 3 still seems to work with UP 48.PS: I would appreciate an answer to my last email. Thanks, Alfred.

Hi, Sotir -- I enjoy studying all the different strategies that can be used to solve each puzzle, but I'm not very savvy about proof coding. Is there a source online where I can go to learn your proof notation?

Hi sotir,
IMO, Kraken (or some my diagrams) is one of ways for presenting deductions as Steve presents his deductions by matrixes… Importance things is that you must be found SIS (strong inference sets) then you can present as Kraken, Steve’s matrixes or other ways.

For Kraken (or other techniques), you can come to :
Sudoku.com/boards/Advanced solving techniques/Sticky: Collection of solving techniques (page 1)
Then find post by Mike Barker : Kraken Blossom, Unit, Fish, ALS, AALS, UR, BUG-Lite

Sotir hi
I have recenttly advanceed to trying to tackle tough sudokus and I have been working through the solutions from you, Steve and Alfred.

In your solution for Oct 2 in step 3 the reason you deduce that e9<>2 is because the AIC loops back to e1?

Regards
Dinos

Sotir, on Jan 10th you said, "Just posted reworked solutios for tough: . . . . 3)Dec 23, 2008 SE=8.3 (5 AICs)". I went to that date and didn't see it. Where did you post this?

I'd like to study your solution to see what I didn't see then.

Thanks,
Brenda
