Hi bert,
There has been a week of tributes on the radio station I listen to 88.5 WFUM. It is a NPR station with great host and all music. Some of the tributes have been very moving. Your's is a great one.

Compared to what we have now as a leader makes me sick.

Beautiful picture, lovely words! He is really needed now. Those of us who were lucky to have been old enough to have lived during his lifetime were most fortunate. To have had the chance to walk with him as I did once is a very special memory. Thanks

Bert, Sully has been going through a series of health problems that have not yet been fully diagnosised. He has balance problems, his legs are very painful and have swelled until they looked like tree trunks. Water pills helped get rid of the swelling, but the pain persists. He lost 30 lbs in about 3 weeks, and he was not trying. Since he needed to lose some, we were glad, but wanted to know why it was so much, so fast. No answers to that. We know that he is a diabetic, but his pressure and sugar are both being controlled by meds. His pace maker is in good shape, as is his heart. He can't walk well, becomes short winded and on and on. Doctors seem to think he is pretty healthy for his age( he'll
be 81,on 1/16) but his quality of life is really affected because he's in constant pain, and no one can tell him why, or what he can do about it. He can sit still and feel ok, but that's not living. He has never been a complainer, and had a high pain threshold, so when he say's he's in pain, I know he's really hurting. At this point, he just needs to know something, and he'll accept it, pain control, at least enough so that he can sleep more than 1 or 2 hrs a night. The problems are not life threatening, but its still very worrisome and curtails much of what we might other wise do. Sorry for unloading as I have, but I really was scared for awhile that I was about to lose him. Things are a little better, but not good yet. However, life must go on, and we're hanging tough. He's currently cheering my effort to get in better shape, and we are just enjoying each other. Thanks for asking! Folks here has been very kind, as they have in my life away from sudoku.

Hello Bert, sorry it's been so long since visiting you, but the last month has been very hectic and now I've ended up with some silly virus.
Since the week before Christmas I have been busy with family, then returned from visiting them over the Christmas/New Year break and brought my Grand daughter back with me. I've just taken her to Perth to catch the plane and now I'm back home and have a lot of catching up to do.
I hope you had a lovely festive season and the New Year is treating you right.

bert, 27 days now with snow on the ground. And its not going away anytime soon! Thank God no one was killed in the avalanche. There are several in Colorado every year. Unfortunately, skiers or snowboarders out of bounds are caught, many die.
How did you celebrate MLK day? I remember when he died. I was 10 yo. This little white bread kid from Kansas was so moved at his loss. I went to Catholic school, but it was some liberal sisters who taught me to respect all people.

Hi Greg. Thank you for calling. By all means, please send me an e-mail. I was wondering about your health, your recovery, and how you are faring in general. I make it no secret on the site that I miss you. Actually, I visit my page often, although I rarely post here. When time permits, I tend to respond to many visitors on their own pages or on the Easy comment page.

Will think about it. That's the best I can offer at the moment.

31/1/07 - Bert thank you for your wishes on my 50th. It is great to know that people all around the world are thinking about you and sending wishes. It really made me feel very special.
I had a really wonderful day and there were 15 of us out for lunch. We came home for coffee and dessert followed by and including champagne. We are still eating all the cakes. Guess why I haven't joined the 'health and fitness club' site yet. After a week of visitors life is nearly back to normal at my house - only 4 tenagers in the place tonight. I actually think I enjoyed last week when they were away.
Once again a big thank you for your wishes.

Hello Bert - I thought it was about time I caught up on some visits so I've been walking around the pages visiting people. I've been a bit neglectful over the Christmas break so I'm trying to catch up now. Here's some for you and a tray of nibblies to enjoy with the wine you've got.
Cheers

2/25/07 Hi There Bert, I was beginning to worry a bit, since you had been mia for awhile. I was glad to see you post. You must be pretty busy and that's a good thing, but wanted you to know that you are missed and I'd love to see you around more often. I now have a new page, for some reason Gath has given me two pages now. I had hoped to see you at the party, but its just as well....not to many seem ready to party this time. Stay well.
