ap, thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to hear of your Dad, he must have been a good man. My Dad simply used up his allotted number of heartbeats and it stopped. I still miss him.
I have been trying to share with others some of the lessons I have learnt in the hope that it might help them to change their lifestyle for the better. Of course, they only apply to those who want to change, it is a very personal decision and none of my business.

Hi Ian. Just spend some time going through your pictures again, as we hardly ever see them on the site.
You have some wonderful shots. Thanks again for sharing these.

Thanks Ian - it's been a long day but I'm sure I'm well and truly on the mend now. It's a long time since I've come down with anything like this and it's really drained me.

andré, thanks for your nice comments. The Antarctic flight was just wonderful. Qantas run six or so flights each summer. They leave from Sydney, four hours down to Antarctica, four hours over the continent and four hours back to Sydney. As far as I was concerned it was the experience of a lifetime. On the way down we were treated to talks by experts and then the staggering beauty of Antarctica unfolded beneath us. I have a few more photos which I will try to process and submit them soon.

ap, they are just wonderful, I couldn't stop laughing. I've heard one or two of them before but there were a number I hadn't heard at all. Thank you for sharing them with me.
ap, are you a pilot too? If so, please tell me more about your flying.
I will pass these on to my son, who is also a pilot.

Hi Ian, most of my pictures to date are taken with an HP R707. The new (I've actually had it a while but use it rarely) is a Panasonic DMC-FZ20.
I tend to keep to the HP on my dog walks as it fits in my pocket.
We are off to Spain sometime next week and I will take both. I keep my tripod in the motor home for the trips.
My first digital, I still have, and it is very handy for taking on golf course and in handbags is a Minolta DimageX.
In fact I still have my Minolta 5000 and a Zenith Telephoto camera with rifle like stock. The oldest one I have is my grandmothers tiny Ensign which folds up to about 2 inches by 3 inches. Don't think film exists to fit that any more. I've owned them for more than 20 years I'm a bit of a horder really. Can't bear to part with them.
What do you use?

You got me looking at my DMC closer, mine too has a 12x optical zoom, integral flash etc; and when we got it the package included filter, lens hood plus a suntax 9000ETS additional flash which I have yet to use. I suppose I'm really a point and click photographer and just have an eye for composure. I'm not really into light meters and playing around with equipment, although I do enjoy Black & white and sepia pictures. I try to capture people unawares but my success rate with this is very varied. But I do enjoy it.

Hi Ian. I see your wife's photo is the tough jigsaw puzzle today (Feb. 7/07 in Australia). I'm curious as to when we will see a picture of you and your wife (what is your wife's name) on your page. I can't imagine you being shy!

Sherri, thanks for the compliment but I am nothing more that an enthusiastic amateur. We were luck enough to do a trip around the world a couple of years ago and I took our first digital camera with us. The other photos are just lucky shots.

Hello Ian,
Thanks for dropping in. I don't often have the time to sit down and chat, usually sit here for 15 minutes a day, doing my sudoku, sometimes play scrabble online if everything else is done.
My football team is more recently the tigers, whom I follow mostly from an armchair. Though my first sentences were 'bloody umpire' (dad had to babysit on Saturday afternoons), and 'car'n the Hawks', in quick succession, so I do have a soft spot for Hawthorn. That was around the time of a Grand Final event for them. Every year my husband and I go to the Melbourne Richmond game, has only been once a year for the last four years (thankfully). My darling tigers always seem to lose. It is the one (usually night) of the year where divorce feels imminent. Nothing worse than a cocky husband singing the Melbourne club theme all the way home on a train!
