Each of these pumpkins took about an hour. That includes gutting. These are designs which I use each year in one form or the other and I have learned over the years how to make the cuts to allow the most light to escape on the first cut, without having to do a lot of fine-tuning after the initial carving. I considered an using an Obama cut-out I found on line, but it looked to difficult!

Hi Jim! I missed seeing these in 2008, but glad I found them in 2009. Are there just regular candles inside? They seem extra bright, but maybe that's because of the bigger cuts? These are really great looking jack o'lanterns!

I took this with my old camera (Nikon Coolpix L4) and night setting (longer exposure) at last light. That brought out the candlelight in the pumpkins. The light is from teacup candles; thin aluminium cups, about 1.25" (3cm) and 1/2" in depth of wax. They go about 3-6 hours then burn out.
