Lost another post, saying :

today i did some laundry, and cleaned my kitchen, and talked to hubby a bit, just a nice long chat, while sitting on porch and watching it rain and the grass grow! Weeded some flowers in containers.

nice day, not a lot going on.

We'll probably watch a movie tonight that the kids pick out, maybe one of the Harry Potter movies. They're still in the mood for it after seeing the new one.

I always wanted a porch! I would love to sit outside on a porch, in theory anyway. Mosquitos tend to love me.

Hubby is making scallops and rice. I don't know if the scallops will be in his sauce or on the grill. They just walked in the door.

Yes, we have mosquitoes, but i grow lemon balm all around the and under the orch. If i rake acros it, it emits a scent mossies do not like, almost like the mosquito plant, citronella. Helps some. AND I keep repellant if they get bad.

How nice to have a cooking hubby! Mine knows how, but has been a long time since he cooked for me. Lets see, 2 years when I had broken foot? And as soon as he found me a wheel chair, it was up to ME to cook, he would come and 'help'.

Now our porch is small, but room for 2 chairs, a small table and a bakers rack on the edge for some of my flowers.

tonight I am doing mac and cheese, low fat kind. Multi grain cornbread patties, done top of stove, do not like oven cooking when it is hot and do not have small pan for cornbread for 2. Green beans, field peas and those vine ripe little cherry tomatoes! Pretty good for someone who had nothing to cook, cause she forgot the thawing today hehe

Couple of oatmeal cookies, sugar free, no trans fat, for desert.

Lemon balm is a plant in the mint family, it's leaves when crushed have a distinct lemon flavor. gowrn for fragrance, it's flowers are insignificant. It self seeds and spreads by root runners both, can be a thug unless you put it where it does not matter if it spreads. Grows about 12 to 18 inches tall and lovely smell. It can be eaten, but does not keep it's flavor when dried. Can make a hot tea from it, or use it crushed in iced tea, I use it in a lettuce and mandrain orange salad, just another green in the salad :>)

Reason it is growing all around and under porch, i had one small container of it back when we moved here, and it naturalized itself.

Julie, we had a lot of problems with site at end of the last page. If you have problems, would you please say and use the little alien smilie?? I am trying to keep track this weekend and if it keeps on, let Gath know what and when again. the alien helps not to have to read all the messages again.

I thhink it will, Stella, I traded mints by mail from some glas up your way. It dies out with frost and if the crown is under leaves or mulch, it will come up again in a little rosette, low to ground, in early spring.

Here, it will come back in containers, the rosette, and it will come up from seed in contaniers. Imight could send you some come spring, when it first comes up from seed. We had good luck mailing mints when small that way. Might could root you some from cuttings, cause when it sprouts from seed here , it will still be SNOW up there!

Oops, I didn't answer MizTricia's question about dinner. It's actually just left-overs, or as my MIL says, 'must-goes.' We have a couple of pieces of deep-dish pizza & some pasta in marinara sauce, and I think 1 bratwurst. Hubby, daughter, and I will draw straws, I guess.
