Lynda we have GST also, but they didn't do away with anything when they started charging it. Ours is 6%. It started at 7% but they changed it last year. We also pay PST(Provincial Sales Tax) which varies from province to province. In B.C. it's 7%.

Bye Linda, nice chatting.
Rena, each state and county has it's own sales tax. Sounds like Canada is pretty much the same.

Seems to be. I hate all the taxes a person has to pay but if you didn't there wouldn't be all the things we expect to have available.

I wouldn't mind paying if I thought they were using it wisely. So many times we hear about tax money being wasted. NBC evening news does a segment once a week called The Fleecing of America.

Money does get wasted by governments all the time. That seems to happen when the money doesn't belong to someone personally.

We had a wonderful time. It was great to see my brothers and sisters again all together. We stayed a few extra days to go to my friends 70th birthday party. We also went to the beach twice to swim. The kids and the dog loved it.

Glad to hear. The last trip we took was to Bar Harbor, Maine. It's beautiful there in the fall. An added bonus is that it's also lobster season. We got early bird dinners (lobster, salad, baked potato) for only $8. We were in hog heaven.

If you get a chance, you should go. Acadia National Park is right outside the town. They also have whale watching tours. During ebb tide you can walk across to an island. After Labor Day, the prices drop at the hotels.

I learn about so many places to visit on this site and I would love to be able to go see them all. I'm supposed to go to see Grand Coulee Dam this summer with my friend from across the line with our daughters. That should be fun.

I know what you mean. There are places here in the states that I would love to see. Then I hear about other countries and want to go there too.

I'm saving up for a trip to New Zealand. My oldest sister, her daughter and grandkids live there. Hopefully I can go to Australia also.

Just looked at a map. I thought New Zealand and Australia were closer (like the distance across Lake Erie).
Sometimes you can get a package deal from an auto club. AAA offers all kinds of cruises and other travel packages. Their magagzine lists all different types.
I think you'll enjoy the trip. Family and new scenery.

We used to have CAA but hubby didn't want to renew. Maybe I should talk him into it.

They should have a web site. That way you can see how much they charge and what discounts members get. You might not have to talk him into it, if it's a deal for you guys. I've used their towing service twice in the last year and have gotten maps, at no charge.

We used it for a jump start and we got a discount at a couple of motels. I don't know why he didn't want it. It does come in handy sometimes.

Last year when my membership came due, hubby said not to renew. Of course I didn't listen to him. When his pickup needed towed, he was glad. Those 2 tows paid for the membership.

Good morning all! Put the ac on early this morning and ended up sleeping in. It's dreary here this morning but hopefully it will break up. At least it stopped raining for the moment. Hope you all have a great day/night! Rola, enjoy your little birthday celebration when Stephen gets home. Cheers! Thinking about ya!

Morning Stella, WOW, the page was empty for SIX hours? Gail has deserted us for STUFF! Rola had a busy day. Lynda came on and did her part and Brenda, and OOOPS, missing someone, Rena, glad to have you back. Topper and MAX helped with keeping the pages going.
We had the main AC in house die yesterday! Al had a client in visiting his shop and domes, so could not work on it, NO AC for most of the day! I am exhausted today from the heat and humidity! HOW did we survive growing up? We did not have airconditiong back then.
