Becky I have an essay due in a couple of weeks & I just can't seem to get my head around the different concepts that are involved. I have worked out how to do the research online but can't quite decide what it is exactly that I need to research. YIKES

Thanks guys you are all very supportive. Becky, the topic is very complex, but basically revolves around 'my own personal' philosophy of nursing, and nursing competency standards, & professionalism!!!!!

Jenni, don't stress too much, just remember the are only three things to write, 1) a beginning, 2) a middle and 3) and end. See easy

Oh, Julie...go with your gut on that...it will be fine....trust me!

And it all has to be backed up by research & professional opinion

Jenni I always get stuck on 1), so usually do 2) first.

vdV, know the feeling well. Used to have a bush in our backyard that I would attack almost every night with clippers.

Julie - no, the unit is called 'Analysis of Nursing Practice'. It's a final semester unit for 3rd year nursing students.

Becky - very subjective, but needs to be supported by research

Jenni, would it help to chat with other students who have recently been taking courses leading up to this one?

Jenni, make notes of how you feel/think, then search for supporting articles. I used to do that for my papers. Or you could write down what you think the prof wants and find the appropriate articles. We used to say if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t.

So Jenni, I guess you need to show some studies on how competency standard lead to/show professionalism and the philosophy that lead to the development of these standards; or something like that?

Julie, nope. The bush is gone. We were going to put a shed there until the neighbors fussed. Now my veggie garden is in that spot. Hated that thing, an overgrown forsythia.

I like your explanation of spitting the dummy, vdV, much better than my simplified version.

My other news of the week is that I went to a 30 year school reunion on Sunday. I saw girls there that I hadn't seen for 32 years (I went to a different school for my final 2 years). It was amazing how mostly everyone still looked the same

I've enjoyed catching up with you guys...Things will work out...trust your instints...Have a good one or else..just 'spat the dummy' or 'punch the bush'...whatever your choice, just remember to be good to yourself....

Jenni, as to reunions, did everyone look pretty much the same - or just the girls/women? Last year at a reunion, I noticed more changes in boys/men than girls/women.
