Hi Noemi! Not sure if I should be the first to post on your page, but greetings from Canada. My tradition is to drop off a few beavetail pastry form here, so I'm leaving you both a double chocolate fudge and an apple cinnamon pastry. Enjoy a Canadian treat, and welcome to your own page!

Happy New Year Noemi, While not seeing you post often, I do know a little about you in the few exchanges that I've seen and of course those that Kathy may have posted. I hope the new year will allow us to learn more about each other. I've met so many wonderful people on this site, and I look forward to getting to know more about you. Please feel welcomed to visit me at anytime to chat. I love to talk, as you may have guessed from my long post. May the year bring you good health, joy, and peace.

Hi Mamacita 2
I am so glad you visited me. You are right - I dont post very often , but I do read comments and I know most of the regulars. As you see I am from Israel , I am a teacher , better said ' retired ' teacher. Decided to retire and enjoy life .I love to travel ( came home from Morocco last week ), read , make powerpoint presentations ,write . I heard something nice - in our life there are 3 stages ( regarding travelling ) :
GO GO
GO SLOW
NO GO
so I decided to retire to have time to keep going as much as possible .
I am still unfamiliar with managing ' My Page ' , but I will learn - I hope. Meanwhile , come and visit whenever you wish, I will also like to get to knwo each other .
Happy New Year !

Noemi - Hello my friend!! Glad to see you are settling into your new ''page''. I have had a hard time keeping up with everyone. I wrote to Gath & asked how many Supporting Members there are now. He said about 160!! No wonder I can't find time to get around to visit everyone. Hope your new year is off to a good start. I look forward to seeing some of your wonderful photos here on your page soon.

Red wine! I'll drink to that (or is it WITH that?)! Pretty sneaky of you to never mention YOUR birthday. I've been trying to remember the date you came back from Morocco - was it Dec. 24th? So was the 24th the day of your birthday? Please let us know so we can get you on the list for this year! Anyway, hope you HAD a very happy birthday.

Hi again Nomei. You go from being a silent Sudoku supporter to a really intersting person in a few weeks. I'm so pleased you have decided to speak out. Between the comments you've posted on your page, and comments I received from Kathy, we are starting to get to know you better. Thanks for sharing! It's nice to 'virtually' meet you.

Nomei hello, Thought I'd drop in since I have learned that you had a birthday recently. Please let me raise a glass in your honor, although it will be water filled for the time being. May you live long, love well and continue to find joy in all that you do. Thanks for the visit. Its going to be nice getting to know someone with your interest. I'm looking forward to it. Kathy did try to share a presentation you had sent, but at this time I'm unable to open these. I do feel as if I've missed out. Perhaps that too shall change. Please come again anytime.

Noemi,Thanks for your visit and birthday wishes for Sully. I noticed somewhere you had described some of your favorite spots in Israel, or where you live, worked and play most often. I'd love to here something like that when you have a chance. I'd also like to hear your take on what's going on politically, or on any topic about current events that you might be willing to share. I've had friends tell me how beautiful your country isater they returned from a visit, but haven't known anyone who lives there. Please let me know if what I'm asking is something that will make you uncomfortable if you choose not to respond.

1/19/07 - Noemi, in the MORE section 'Travelling Grannies' I left a message about a website that lists all the countries in the world (194). Even though you're not officially a granny, you're pretty close, being such a good great aunt! Wondered if you would check that list & let the rest of us traveling ladies know how many countries YOU have been to. Bet it's a lot!

Noemi, I thank you for your visit and willingness to talk about anything that may be of interest. I understand your not wanting to become involved in certain discussions on the web. If you would rather use email, I'd have no problem giving you access to my email address. Kathy does have it and if you let her know its okay to give it to you, we should be able to be discuss whatever comes to mind. I currently have two topics that I'd like to know more about. The first is the reaction to Former Jimmy Carters latest book with the provocative title, Palestine: Peace not Apartheid; and the second which may sound as if it could be somewhat related, is the growing unrest, increased gang and drug problems among the Ethiopian Jews that have caused racial disharmony and economic strain. I have not yet read President Carter's book, but much of what I read speaks about the unrest among the Israeli leadership, steming from this book. Is this just to take attention away from the growing scandals? President Carter was to appear at Brandeis University last night to speak about the book. He has been critcized here, and did offer an explanation and an apology for a sentence in the book which was 'improper and stupid'. Since President Carter is a man that I admire, I am concerned at the uproar being created. Israel seems to be undergoing growing pains and from what I read, many things that are being done, seem to be following along some of the mistaken paths the the USA went through during the early part of the 20th century. I would hate to see that happen. I'm sure much good is also going on, I am not in a position to really know what is going on or to make any kind of judgements, that's why I'm so pleased that you are willing to express yourself and help me understand a bit more.

Noemi, How are you. Safe I pray. Yes, you pretty well got my drift on some of the many things that interest me. You touched on something that I have wondered about, and that is the fear that must radiate through out your land. How does one retain his/her sense of humanity when faced with the many challenges you have in just doing the mundane everyday chores, wondering if the person next to you is on a suicide mission. Your point about the Black minister who was angered by the use of the word 'apartheid', was part of what was going on here when Jimmy Carter's book first hit the shelves. Carter said he used the word purposefully to show what he felt was an attitude of racism in the treatment of the Palistine prisoners. To have a true dialogue with someone who is openminded enough to share truthfully these things that you have direct knowledge of would be very beneficial to me in helping to understand your part of the world. I have no hatred of any people, but I have distrust for many policies which seem to foster misunderstandings among us. I believe we have more in common than in the areas where we differ. I come to you in hope that we can learn from each other, then spread that which we learn among others to narrow the misunderstandings. May peace be with you.

Hi,
I began a reply to you a few days back when there was yet another suicide bomber in Eilat and 3 innocent Israelis were killed ! Eilat is a wonderful spa in the south of Israel . This is the first incident there- hope the last. I couldnt go on writing. If you follow the news you probably know that there are very bad fights in Gaza between the Hamas and the PLO , they are killing each other for power ( the president is from the PLO, the prime minister from Hamas ) - Israel is not involved thanks God ! I feel it is injust to use the term Apertheid with Israel - My father was a doctor and the army used to take him regularly to the jail where palestinian prisoners were held and he treated them , gave medicine , they were treated in hospitals if needed . I am sure there were also cases of abuse - unfortunately ,but this is not apatheid ! Would you call the American or British soldiers who abused the iraqi prisoners - racists? No , they were not racists, they were very wrong in what they did , they even made videos and had fun, but I dont think they did it because of Apartheid !!!! I am very much against violence , no matter who does it , but I also strongly believe that our future is in danger and we have to protect ourselves and make sure noone destroys us . I pray to God that the politicians will be wise enough and find peaceful ways to do it !
About life here - Israel is a wonderful country, israelis like to live, travel, go to theatres and concerts, and we dont constantly live with fear , but we are always aware of the danger and try to be as careful as possible. Life goes on , terrorism cant paralyze a whole nation and it wont !
