well. at least you topped with that. I feel for you. I get asthma, too, but not to the point of being hospitalized. I'm always in trouble with doctors for not controlling it properly.

I don't like the patronising tone they use. I feel like they are telling me off whenever I end up in hosp with an attack as though I did it on purpose. As if! Unfortunately, any cold I get goes straight to my chest and although I am not a fan of antibots, even if I start a course as soon as I realise what's happening, its not quick enough. As my hubby says, 'Lungs of a gnat!'

Gaw, we sound like a right pair, my hubby and I! Him with his dodgy toe and me, sheesh, from the outside you'd think I'd have decent sized lungs! Maybe we should start a maladies page!!!

I have problems with the preventative medication. I'm allergic to the aerosols they use! Break out in hives after 3 weeks. It is difficult to get the medicos to believe me. So I take oral cortisone when I need it and they don't like that. But low doses and varying the amount so it doesn't have too many secondary effects.

Now there's a good idea. The malingerers-hypochondriacs-and-such-like page, together with suitable pontification from medicos who've never suffered the malady.

I can't get it through their knowledgable skulls that once the attack is stablised, I am quite capable of taking meds orally therefore I can do that at home.

I guess you've been given all sorts of advice, but... have you tried olive leaf extract? I'm a skeptic for most things but this does decrease respiratory congestion for me by about 20-30%. Doesn't replace the other stuff, but reduces the need.

Have you tried any of the combination meds that are now available. They are both a preventer and long term reliever but in a powder release form, not aerosol.

Too many late night pooter sessions! If you want any info re meds or would like to arrange a post-op meet-up, send me a message via the in-house email service.
