We do our taxes on the computer. It is so much easier than it used to be. What kind of business is it?

We are in construction and development with a bit of investment. Quite varied. When is the end of the US tax year?

Ian should have been here for the long discussion we had on charter schools and public schools. That was quite interesting!

By the way, if any of you were offended, I apologize to you as well. And on that note, I must run for a bit, as hubby has called me.

Stella, actually the end of the tax year is Dec 31, and taxes are due by April 15. UNLESS you file an extension, then you have to July 15 and a second extension gets you to October 15, the final deadline for taxes for the previous year.
then there is a business financial year which for many, the financial is November 1 to October 31.

Bye Julie. I was not offended at all. It's nice to hear that others have the same or sinilar situations and that at times, some people can be obtuse or very much aware. I found it interesting to read.

Yes, you're right MizT. The filing date is April 15. Our State budget is April 1st and the State fiscal year goes from 4/1 to 3/31. Which always confused me.

Thank you Stella, that is what i thought of my conversation with Julie also, two adults calmly discussing a commonn problem and sharing things that had worked for them. Since I was NOT talking about Ian, I do not think I owe Ian any appology. I was talking about my husband, and he was not offended. Also, It was not written as entertainment, but if anyone found it entertaining, so be it.

Lynda, I don't know the exact definition of a charter school, but the jist is that it is an independent school that is funded through the public school system. It is smaller and usually more specialized, and around here, you find them more in the cities.

April 1st is April Fool's Day here as well and the budget is supposed to be done even if it is a Sunday. However, they are notoriously late, which causes all sorts of problems with government workers and teachers getting paid and the interest on the loans they have. It's always a big ta do.

Lynda, I never did understand charter schools, even though a couple teacher friends and teacher family member tried to explaine it to me. I am not usually that dense, just this seems beyound my grasp.

No entrance exams that I know of. Around here it is usually done by some sort of lottery system. To give the poorer areas a boost with their education. Only private schools have entrance exams around here.

MizT, I also just thought we were having a polite convo, sharing ideas, etc., when Ian made his comment. As you probably saw, the very non-confrontational side of me felt a need to apologize to him.

MizTricia do you have privately funded schoole in US as well? I can't quite grasp the need for two sorts of publicly funded schools.
