No worries June, I really should go spend some quality time with his nibs. I told Rolanda I was going to....over an hour ago!
Sleep well.

Good morning all! Chilly this morning (36F) but no snow. West of me got a lot of snow though. The news said that the Buffalo area (by Niagra Falls) got a foot of snow! They got "lake effect" snow off of the Great Lakes. The weather forecast still shows a few snow flakes for the next few days, but I don't think we'll get it.

Hi Stella, pleased that you haven't got any of the white stuff yet. It seems to be very early for it to be falling. Though we have very lucky for a few years now and only had a couple of days of snow all winter. Usually in Jan/Feb

Not staying, just sneaking a peek!

Beautiful sunny morning here, supposed to get to 24C. There was mention of a possible late shower but we shall see. We had a decent amount of rain on the weekend, but the outside pots are already looking a bit dry.
Just the usual today, Stuff and Duty! Started walking again yesterday so when I sign out, I shall go for another one today. Baby steps!
Have a great day/night. Catch you later.

While walking the dog tonight, hubby and I saw an old dog, half blind, wandering the neighborhood. Brought her home, phoned animal control, got the owner's address and took her home. Am happy that she's safe and sound with her people.

Good on you for rescuing that old pooch. Have been involved in a couple of rescues lately. There isn't a lot of traffic where we are but there are several logging trucks that go through our town and both rescues were on the main road so you can't just drive off and ignore the strays.

Our road jogs at each end. Makes it look like a deadend at that ends of the block. The poor old gal was trying to find her way around fences, but there wasn't any break for her. Plus, she was going in the opposite direction of home.

Trying to catch up on my reading here and getting things ready for winter. Today, washed winter clothes, made refried beans and stuffed green peppers for the freezer.

We tend to have a lot of dogs brought up to our area and dumped by 'city folk'. The last time, I was driving just into the town and saw a car parked awkwardly on the side of the road and there was a woman on the footpath grappling with a dog. So, nosey as I am, I pulled up and asked if she was alright. It turned out that this dog had run out onto the road in between her car and a truck! Anyway, to cut a looong story short, about an hour later, she, the local ranger, another resident and I were finally able to get this dog contained. It was micro-chipped, but it was from the other side of Melbourne, about an hours drive from us!

Today, I did a few regular chores but also spent a lot of time in the garden. We are finally getting a spell of warm weather and the sun has some heat in it. Up until the night before last, I have had the fire going off and on because the house has still been so chilly. To have the fire still going in November is unheard of...well almost. There was that Christmas day in recent years where it hailed so hard that it looked like snow! In our summer!!!

Hubby finally broke down and turned on our furnace. Got ready for bed and hubby said it was time. I had on long johns, a flannel nightgown and a robe. Came waltzing into the living room singing, "I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty."

My son's girlfriend has just come on MSN and told me that on their way home from work, the car hit a block of wood, blew the tyre and dented the rim! My poor kids are jinxed with cars.

If that's the only damage, they're lucky. I've seen people swerve to miss something in the road and hit something else. Bet he's a little peeved tho.

Peeved is the word, Becky. As my 'DIL' described it, he's dented his rim...AGAIN!
But you are so right, they are safe. That is all that matters.
When I taught my kids to drive, one of the first things I said was DO NOT swerve to avoid something. We live in the country so we often have thigs jump/run out in front of us but as I told them, better to hit the roo than have the oncoming truck hit you!
