Yesterday, I had to take Nuka to the vet. The left side of her jaw was swollen. It turned out to be a wasp sting. The stinger was still in her lip. The vet removed it and gave her an injection for the swelling and said to give her Benadryl for two days. She is much better today.

The cows belong to a family in the states. Their daughter comes up for Guides. Every fall, some of the cows end up here. I tried inviting the cows for dinner but they wouldn't stay.

Give her a hug from me. Sometimes I wish they could tell us what is wrong.

Ours did once. Was standing at the fence talking to the neighbor and he wouldn't quit barking. I asked him if he wanted a spanking. He sat down and said, "no." Thought the neighbor wouldn't quit laughing. That's the only time he's done it.

Good story, Becky. One time when I came home, Nuka sounded like she was asking to go outside.

Sometimes I think they can, but don't want us to know.

How's the weather up there?

The weather has been pretty nice. Chilly but sunny. They keep predicting snow but I'm hoping it will hold off for a while. How's yours?

Someone had the fan turned on high yesterday. The leaves were blowing sideways. Our temps are in the 40's and it spit a little snow.

We've had a couple of sprinkles of snow but it melted right away. Amber is getting impatient for the snow. She really loves it.

I used to when I was little. I still like to see it right after it's fallen. But, would be just as happy for it to melt the next day.

I used to live in Vancouver and I really missed it at Christmas. I grew up in Winnipeg, and now I feel like it isn't Christmas without snow.

The last big snow we had was a couple of years ago. It snowed, then rained, then snowed again. I think they said we had 16 inches. We lost electricity for a few days.

Losing power is no fun. Ours goes out here what seems like an awful lot. Sometimes it seems to be for no reason. They usually get it back on in a couple of hours. Generally, just in time for bed.

Ours used to go out all the time. After that winter snow, we bought a generator and had another circuit breaker box installed for it to be plugged into.

A generator is on my list of things I would really like to get. We had a big wind storm in the area several years ago. Our power was out for a week. It would have been nice to have one then.

We got a medium sized one. It will only run the furnace and refrigerator or deep freezer and refrigerator. If I remember right, it was a little over $300.

It's worth the money. Even if it's only for peace of mind. I had to drive all over to store everything that was in the freezer.

The problem is remembering where all the stuff was taken. I ended up making a list of who was storing what. We weren't sure when the electricity was coming back on and told everyone to help themselves.

So glad I won't have to do that again. At least we have a gas stove and was able to cook.

I've used the barbecue and the wood stove. Now we have the fireplace insert and I can't use that. I wish I had a gas stove. I had one a long time ago. The poor thing was ancient, but it sure worked well.

We used the barbecue too. We don't have a fireplace or wood stove. When it was time to replace the stove, I insisted on a gas one. Would love to have a wood stove, but there's no room in our house. It's a one story ranch.

I have gotten used to the wood heat. The only problem is the second floor gets way too hot.

GOOD MORNING SUDUKOLAND

Coffee is ready, come sit, have a cup!

It is cold here this morning, 29 F or -2C, our second night freeze, so there shold go all the vegetation! maybe allergies will go away now.

Warming back up after today, to more normal temps. I still have pansies growing, they look a bit sad till the temps return above freezing, but they recover. LOVE pansies, give me hope during the winter. AND i have more evergreen , young trees and such, growing now, so I shall see green amongst the bare branches of treees. NOPE, not bare yet, but with the wind this week, we did have a lot falling.

Good morning all! A little chilly this morning. (34F) I have a wicked sore throat this morning and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? I'm not sure if it was caused by acid reflux because I had heartburn for 3 nights before (I never get heartburn although I apparently have GERD.) or that is just a coincidence since S#2 had a sore throat a few days ago. It is really bad and way back down my throat. It feels like there are cuts in my throat and it brings tears to my eyes when I swallow.

Poor Stella there is nothing worse than a sore throat, especially one that will not shift with anything.

Morning Stella and Brenda.

Stella, if it's acid reflux, don't eat tomato anything. Hubby says it makes his worse. I drink chicken bouillon and take a CF cough syrup when I get a sore throat. Either way, you should probably go to the doctor if it doesn't go away soon. Take care.

Stella, if your throat won't budge, get you to the doctor. You can have an appointment in three weeks. What you need is drugs -- good old American pharmaceuticles -- more than you can pay and bigger than you can swallow. Jane's cure, however, does have its charm.
