Well, Mary, it seems when we want to rest we don't have time and when we have to rest we don't like it. However, I now have clean windows care of the council handyman and can look out on the tea-tree in the backyard. Some rosellas flew by not long ago.

I think that's why I became a Buddhist. Unfortunately it takes time to realize the wisdom of Buddhism.

darn, I was thinking more along the lines of a pill...no side effects of course!

Hmmm. Most pills of that nature have side effects such as blasting the mind to oblivion which sort of defeats the purpose.

A friend has tinnitus and her doctor told her to avoid or limit coffee/tea, tonic water, alcohol and aspirin. All these increase the blood flow in your viens.
She takes ginkgo and zinc and says that they seem to help.

... and I like all those, except for aspirin and alcohol. Haven't had zinc for a while. I tend to be low on it. The most effective solution which I have found so far is a combination of codeine and caffeine which apparently works with migraines, too. On days like this, the tinnitus is associated with pain around the affected ear. I suspect my sinuses are affected at the same time which is why I think it is an allergic response.

Sounds like it. Hubby gets ringing in his ears in the fall (hay fever) and when the weather changes. If your ear keeps hurting, you might want to see the doctor. It could be a sinus or ear infection.

It started off with Meniere's disease which affects the middle ear. Nothing they can do about it 'cos they don't know its cause. I'm now officially late stage Meniere's which means almost totally deaf in same ear. These episodes start with slight sore throat and slight fever and then the pain in ear develops and last for 2-3 days. At least I no longer get the vertigo which used to be severe.

Guess you're doing the right thing. Rest and taking care of yourself. I've never heard to Meniere's before.

It's not very common. The net effect is a bit like having chronic fatigue... you don't know when it is going to affect you and when it does there's not much else you can do other than wait until it passes. So that's what happens on my 'off' days. but I do have my internet connection which is a nice (and quiet) way to keep in touch. And sudokuland has such a friendly bunch of people.

Hi vdV. I feel for your friend. In the early stages, people used to think I was drunk. I would have 15 mins warning of an attack and then I would be vomiting and unable to walk. Even lying on the bed felt as if the whole bed was rotating. But I don't have those symptoms now... just my 'off' days.

Still doing it, will take some time to finish. Will be done in 4 parts, quite some time apart, doing part one & 2 at the moment. 1)Giving the background to the work, 2)defining the work to be done, 3) implementing the definition and, 4) results. It will take a couple of months to do the work and another month to get the results

Lots of help from all my friends; me, myself and I. But there will be plenty of others when all the work is done and awards are handed out, then I will not exist

I had the house all to myself today for the first time in a while. YAY!
D#2 has just started a summer job and today was the first time she has been out of the house, except for exam times since school finished.
Gosh it was nice just to do things without explaining why and eating when or if I felt like it!

Know the feeling well. Happened to me many times. About the only time I was noticed was when something went wrong. Then it was give it to Becky, she'll fix it.

Ahh laundry! I don't think there is any other chore that is so endless and thankless. Just when you get to the bottom of the basket, some dear child, or hubby, will decide to tidy up. All of a sudden, the baskets are overflowing again.
