Hi everyone
Just time for a quick look in here before taking the dog for a walk, doing laundry, cleaning the house and doing the job I'm paid for oh and on top of that my youngest wants me to take her down town to get some white jeans so she can go to a fancy dress party tomorrow... I would much rather chat

So you've met my daughter then....oh, no, I see you were talking about your OWN daughter! My mistake.

I can't say all daughters are the same as D#1 and son never ask for things. I usually have to bully son into letting me buy anything for him. If they were working I would expect them to pay their own way but both are students. D#2 has a Saturday job, when she gets paid she spends it all within a couple of days. That really annoys me

So much for having an early night! Got caught up in the chatroom.
Sunburn isn't too severe thanks Brenda. It was really the first sunny day so I wasn't expecting it. I was wearing a singlet top whereas normally, I wear t-shirts.
I hear what you're saying about the kids and their money. It burns a hole in their pocket. Every cent earned, and more, is almost spent before they've got it! I get very cranky about lending institutions. They are forever sending out enticing offers for credit cards to them, and the silly, greedy kids gobble them up! They have no idea.
Well, must go. This has taken me about 15 mins to type because of typos and the fact that I keep nodding off! Have fun with D#2, I'm sure(!) she will really appreciate it.

Good morning all! I don't like the time change because I can never catch anybody anymore!
I got a really nice message on one of my photos on my page and it made my day! The person doesn't have a page so I can't reply. I haven't been to my page or updated it. I should do that for the holidays. I also haven't been visiting people on their pages, so I should do that as well. Between being sick, travelling to see the kids and S#2's activities, I don't seem to have time.
Dino, I hope you are feeling better and your "off" day passes quickly.
Gail, you've got to be careful with sunburns. Put a paper towel soaked with tea on it. You probably get tan though,(unlike me who has never gets tan!) so that will help.
Eve, sorry, hadn't read about the boy before for a discussion. I hope he gets to stay.
I must say, that my 3 older kids never spend any money they earn. They save every penny for college. That's why I don't feel bad about getting them things that they need and they usually don't ask for it either.
Well, off to do Easy. Hope everyone has a great day!

OK, I have good news and bad in my Don Quixote quest to find Brendan's missing baby years photos. The good news is that I found a photo of Brendan's first birthday! The bad news is that I found "A" photo of Brendan's first birthday! Now, to put that into perspective, I take thousands of pictures every year. I NEVER take just one picture of anything. I carry two cameras with me at all times. Most of the pictures that my siblings have of their families and special occasions are from me. I even took pictures of the kids on their "month" birthdays. So, I am glad that I was able to put a picture of his first birthday in his baby album, but it will drive me crazy forever more not to remember why that's all there was. That's what happens when you wait 18 years to organize!!

Now, I'm off to pick up S#2 from school and bring him to his indoor soccer game. They have the first game and have to be there at 4pm. The good thing is that the indoor facility is near his school.

Stella, know what you mean about starting one thing and ending up with at least 3 projects going at the same time. Trouble is I have trouble getting back to the one I started out with. Don't worry about the pictures, they'll turn up. I'm still finding things I packed away and we've lived here over 20 years.

Good morning all! It is pouring rain here! Just found out last night that Brendan's friend is not allowed to visit him this weekend at college because he didn't get all of his college applications done. So that means we have to go pick him up! Soooo, on Saturday, one of us(hubby or me) has to go pick up D#2 from Boston. On Sunday, S#2 has a soccer tournament(indoor), on Monday, I have to go to Boston to pick up D#1(tried to get her to take the train, but there is only one train here and it leaves before her classes are over), and Tuesday, I have to drive to New Jersey to pick up Brendan. I don't think I am capable of all of the driving in that short a time.

GOOD MORNING SUDUKOLAND
COFFEE TEA AND CHOCOLATE all available at Tricia's cyber pot.
I shall need lots of coffee today. we had a sstorm front come through bringing cooler air, tonight will be actually COLD again. the weather change did a number on my old bones, achie today! I am hunting somethng warmer to wear this morning, a T shirt is not enough!
What are your plans for Thanksgiving Day? Al and i will be going to my sisters, there will probably be only 4 of us this year. Our girls are to far away, her children need to b=visit inlaws this year. what a difference, we usually have 20 or more . Cooking should be easier, we willhave a much simpler menu this time.

Hi MizT Ill have a coffee if I may.
Thanksgiving will be a change for you this year there will only be 4 of you instead of 20. As you say cooking will be easier but clrearing away will be a lot easier too.

Brenda, clearing away will be easier, but not as fun! Everyone brought dishes for the big meal and after it was "I'll give you some of my dressing for some of your sweet potatoes" and such all around the table as all the females were doing clean up. We even came prepared with our own take out dishes! Had leftovers for another meal or two at home, that was fun. Would probably be about 6 or 7 veggies and as many deserts also, and ham and turkey. MUCH less planned this year.

I see what you mean about the fun. It sounds a great idea each bringing something towards the meal. I remember meals with the family where they relied on us to provide and cook everything...but the same thing happened the next year at a different family members house. You way seems so much better as long as everyone new what to take. I can imagine ending up with 15 lots of potatoes.

Brenda, we made out a menu and then people chose from that menu something to bring. Internet made it much easier, not as many phoone calls about to all the relatives that way. And of course everyone brought "a little extra" something. I think everyone was afraid we would not have enough food. Our table always groaned from the load of food.
Some things became tradition. I made the sweetpotatoes, Joann made the dressing, Christy made apple and cherry pies, Tanya made the green bean casserole. Other items we swapped about. It was soo much easier having about about 8 or 9 cooks contributing to the menu, and was never a problem if someone wanted to bring a guest, we had enough food to feed an army, since each cook brought at least 2 items!

Good Morning everyone. We got rain last night, but, so far, none this morning. Oh, the morning just officially ended, it's noon. MizT, I agree with the achie today, no fun.
Stella, how do you do all that travelling and stay sane! Boston is, what, 3-4 hrs away? Will they all be home all week then?

We're doing Thanksgiving on Saturday this year. Tha's when my brother's kids can be here. His SIL is a fireman and he works, then they do a late dinner with him people. His son could be here, b ut works Friday, so that was out. My son and DIL won't be here, they're heading to Rhode Island on Wednesday to be with her Dad and sisters. Her sisters have been here to visit, but she hasn't been home since the wedding, July a year ago, so it's time; and they'll be here for Christmas.

Good afternoon everyone! Still raining and chilly. My bones are achie today too. So far tea and hot chocolate have not helped. Time to get the heating pad out. We'll be by ourselves for Thanksgiving. It's too hard to travel with the kids only home for a few days. I will miss our usually huge Thanksgiving get together. We also share the cooking and bring dishes. Usually the hose that is hosting does the turkey and everyone else brings the rest. Hubby makes the most delicious cranberry relish! I told him to make just as much even though it is just us because we all love it.

Miz Tricia, likewise your sweet potatos? Am trying to organise our Christmas menu and something different would be good. Only if its not too much trouble

Sweet potaotes
MARY, here is how I make them, and no I do not measure.
Bake fresh sweet potatoes in oven, peel and mash with butter. Put in casserole. Make topping of equal parts flour, chopped walnuts and brown sugar plus enough soffened butter to make it crumbly. sprinkle over the casserole, bake in oven till bubbly. Cinnamon can be added to the crumb topping if desired.
