G'Day Gail, got a headache, waiting for the freeway to be as the name suggests (free of parked cars).

I can never get over how we do endless STUFF, yet no-one notices or remarks but is they do something, which is a rarity around here, I am supposed to put them up on a pedestal and throw streamers!

Guess I trained hubby well. Told him if it wasn't in the hamper, it wouldn't get washed until it made it's way in there.

Amen to that Becky. I quite like my own company, and the really nice thing is that I never answer myself back when I tell myself to do something....well, hardly ever!

vdV, what has caused the headache? Hubby is suffering with hayfever at the mo and that messes up his sinuses something chronic!

Oh, I agree absolutely Becky. I don't go gathering 'their' dirty clothes but it never ceases to amaze me that they always decide to do their clean-up immediately following the last load of wash. Oh well, too bad. It has to wait till next time or do it yourself.

My sister was an adult run-away! It seemed to her that her grown-up kids were never going to leave home, so when the youngest of her four turned 18, SHE moved interstate!

Definitely walking distance, vdV. That is, of course, if your legs were each a mile long!
If you ever do escape, let me know and I'll flee with you. I promise not to tell the darlings where we are.

Well, I'd better go pretend like I care and fling some food. Tonight's menu-crumbed chops, smashed pot, peas and corn.
Will pop in between preparation atages so if you're still here, I'll see you then.
Ciao for now.

Does Australia tax on a scale or is it a flat tax?

Australia tax on a scale, first $6k no tax, $6001-$25K taxed at 15%, 25K-75K at 30%, 75K-150K 40%, over this at 45%.
PLUS 1.5% Medicare levy

Medicare is our public health scheme. We also have private health cover.

Your scale is close to ours. Then there's different tax rates on inheritance, winnings from gambling, etc. Wouldn't mind it if they didn't waste so much. They're constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul.

We have Medicare, Medicaid and private. I think the only one that doesn't cost people extra is Medicare.

Who's in Control?

Electronics and I have a love/hate relationship. When things work, I love them; and when they don't, I hate them. I'll bet you feel the same way and will sympathize with my story.
The after-market remote control for the TV in the bedroom died last Friday because the battery ran out of juice. I made a special trip to town to get batteries, which are so expensive these days you'd think they had gas in them instead of acid. I installed the battery and the remote still wouldn't work. My neighbor informed me that you have to keep the code that was in the sheaf of paper and booklet that came with the remote, so that when you change the battery you can re-enter it. Well, that ship had sailed. Off to town again I went to purchase the cheapest remote I could find without going to WalMart. I spent two days trying to enter the code to no avail. In desperation I went into the den and unhooked the VCR/DVD player, took it back to the bedroom and plugged it in to that TV. (Two side notes: 1. VCRs are easy to plug in. DVD players are not. 2, It was very dusty and dirty behind that TV, but it isn't any longer because I got most of it on my clothes.) When I sat down to check out the new arrangement, I realized the remote for the VCR/DVD was still in the den. As I rose to go get it, I saw the original remote on a side table; and, just like when ET came back to life, it's little, red light was blinking. Could it be? Had a miracle happened? I held the familiar object in my hand, pressed "channel up," and it worked. Choirs of angels burst into song. I ran it through all the channels, and then, content, I fell asleep and had a good, long nap. Like Ulysses, I was just happy to be back where I had started.

Electronics and I have a hate/hate relationship. As I do electronic for a living, everyone expects me to fix all their computer problems, which if it is a simple problem is OK, but if it isn't it suddenly becomes my fault that it doesn't work!
